Photography
A place to politely discuss the tools, technique and culture of photography.
This is not a good place to simply share cool photos/videos or promote your own work and projects, but rather a place to discuss photography as an art and post things that would be of interest to other photographers.
Angles, shadows/light play, buildings, people but not them facing the camera — compositions that don’t fit the golden ratio. Would like to get into more street but I’m conflicted because I don’t see myself just photographing someone’s face without asking their permission first. Doesn’t feel right.
Music / concert & Landscape
Ive come to realize that something I enjoy is 'behind the scenes' shots and shots of those who don't get recognized for the work they do.
Things like:
- Photos of other people taking photos
- Photos of Kitchen Staff (especially love these)
- Photos of people doing the work 'behind the curtain' of a play/concert
etc
Unfortunately, people don't want pictures of a photo session in progress, or people moving props for a play as opposed to the play itself, so I feel like its a niche that isn't profitable (but something I enjoy most)
4x4, off road racing for me. Ultra4, NorCal Rock race, Vorra and the like. I like getting shots that freezes the action and makes people feel like they're at the event.
Paid.
Dogs romping with their shadows
Macro, I like seeing "the art" of the tiny world. Also, I'm very inspired by whatever Eggleston is considered to have done. Love colors, shapes, and simplicity
Also going against the question, as much as I can love them anything with humans overwhelms me. Especially most street. I feel like I've taken maybe 2 OK street photos and the rest are poor
Landscape & astrophotography
Street photography documenting local feel when I live somewhere. Reminds me of the places I love spending time and gives those locations a bit of an artistic feel
macro.. usually of natural things but sometimes not
Car rig photography. I don’t do it often but always get fun results!
Street Photography is my absolute favorite. Something about photo journaling every day life is fascinating and also fulfilling.
My next favorite is what I do more than anything and that’s professional wrestling in the independent scene.
Street photography and concert photography.
New York City parties, events and people
I'm personally big on the "urban decay" style of landscapes, but more from the nostalgia/nature reclamation perspective rather than the creepy/haunting.
On the other side of things, I LOVE beautiful landscapes of pure nature or of cities/towns/villages that aren't completely modern or industrialized.
I do automotive primarily. Racing, drifting, shows, etc. Also dabble in street and nature.
Really starting to like urban photography
I take photos for my son’s swim team and love it both for the action photos and the candids of the kids.
Deep sky astro here. Trying to get into portraits at the moment.
High school football.
Macro wildlife photography. I love to find tiny critters and learn how to get close enough to them to take a macro photo, as close as an inch away. I learn so much about ecosystems and other biodiversity this way as well! I get out to shoot frequently.
I quit doing weddings and just started taking pictures of my buddy’s at our gun range.
Landscape astro, moody landscapes and bald eagles when the fly into town over winter.
I have the most fun doing wildlife and macro of bugs and plants.
small businesses
Travel documentary focused on adventure.
I like shooting nature and churches. But I’m just an average ole cell phone pic taker.
Birds. Always a challenge. Always something new.
Landscape for sure
Street photography and Documentary
Street and portraits. Street is pretty straight forward. I just take my point and shoot out on the streets and take pictures of interesting stuff. Portrait is a bit more challenging though. I’ll need a model to volunteer, but once i figure that out i do it easily with my DSLR
Construction! It's so dynamic!
Horror and pet photography have been growing on me a lot lately
Macro or tilt-shift from elevation.
Nature and Macro. Sometimes it's both combined.
Any niche that pays me
Underwater
Cars for me.
Wildlife/nature for me. Stepping into black and white photography for a new perspective.
close-ups of textures
City life, architecture, stuff like that, and whatever else interests me.
portraits of people. the memories and moments taking a photo for someone whatever the scenario looking back on makes it really memorable, but also brings a smile to my face seeing someone smile to the camera.
Night photography, particularly in urban areas and bands on stage
Haven't shot more then a handful
WEDDINGS!!
I just love weddings
For some reason I’m drawn to balloons or inflatables haha. I can’t really explain it.
Good photography is my niche.
Happy snaps. That's all I can do now anyway.
Sports, specifically highly active/constant activity. I am a big fan of action shots :)
Contrasts. Trees n buildings. A nun walking in front of a lot lizard. Etc
