A place to politely discuss the tools, technique and culture of photography.

This is not a good place to simply share cool photos/videos or promote your own work and projects, but rather a place to discuss photography as an art and post things that would be of interest to other photographers.

I currently have a white fabric backdrop. It's good for storage and transporting since it is relatively light and can be folded. I love how I can use it on the floor and also to hang up against a wall. However I hate that it wrinkles so much and takes forever to iron out on shoots. I also hate that it doesn't hang perfectly and you can still see some waves and wrinkles in the fabric.

I want to get a new backdrop to avoid the current problems I have. This new backdrop would have to meet the following requirements:

- Doesn't wrinkle or crease easily

- Hangs nicely straight off a stand and doesn't have waves like a fabric one does

- Doesn't have any glare or reflective

- Is nice and huge, however can also be used in small, tight locations

- Something that can also be used on the floor

- Can be cleaned/washed easily

- Relatively easy to store and transport

Muslin, might be an option. I'd say canvas a light one, could work. I do like paper as it looks good and is easily thrown away when dirty.

saying that it is fabric is too generic. the properties of fabric are not the same across the several different types. I would assume that you are talking about muslin. Canvas has different qualities. As does polyester. All are used for backdrops.

You are probably looking for fleece-backed polyester like the Titanium cloth from Backdrop Outlet. This is not an endorsement for them. I have several of them, but they (BDO) are a pain to deal with in ordering and customer service. They travel well. They do drape somewhat. And they can be laundered. They have a some spring to them so you can tension them with clamps and sandbags to pull out wrinkles.
