Any bike app/community that allows posting personal information?

I live in the U.S.A. and don't have a car. This means that I bike/skate/walk nearly everywhere.

Road conditions seen to have gotten worse to the point where nearly every day I'm almost hit by an irresponsible car driver.

When I'm not walking, I have a dashcam that captures the cars, license plates, and even faces.

I want to develop an app/community that allows you to report these dangerous drivers, complete with their faces whenever possible.

However as I look at other similar projects, I haven't found any that allow this. Why is this?

According to this source:

There isn’t a satisfying “yes” or “no” answer to whether doxxing is illegal.

Generally speaking, the First Amendment of the United States Constitution protects individuals’ right to publish information that is considered a matter of public concern. However, if it isn’t a matter of public concern and/or it was published with malicious intent (to intimidate or cause harm), it’s no longer protected by the First Amendment.

Would I get in legal trouble by starting this app/community?

It doesn't seem fair that they can continue to harm or almost harm us pedestrians/skaters/bikers without possible recourse.

My goal with the app would be to make people aware of these drivers, because it's of public concern.

Does something like this exist already? If not, why not? What possible ramifications would there be for this type of app? Thank you in advance.

It'll just turn into another Next Door alarmist app with no real benefit to society.

Improving the roads and safety in general, adding physical barriers between the road and bike- / walk-ways, to start, is a better use of time and money.

But what if there is no social aspect to it? I'm not looking to code a social media app. I just want to have a database of reckless/dangerous drivers. I think it would be especially helpful if/when they crust an accident. Especially if it's a fatal one, though hopefully not of course. It's just that pedestrian deaths continue to go up and I'm afraid for everyone's safety, my own and my family's included. I have kids and it's one of my worst nightmares. I feel a strong desire to try to do something about it.

+1. Also, you can come visit the Netherlands and see if you want to stay here ^^

There are a lot of other perks besides cycling infrastructure. For starters, we don't have Trump or generally the political system is not two-party...

I'm pretty sure I would want to stay. But with effectively no money, I'm stuck (got enough to visit Iceland next year for the eclipse, tickets booked, but that's it).

I haven’t found any that allow this. Why is this?

It is begging for a lawsuit, probably violates harassment and/or privacy laws, and better as a reporting tool to law enforcement.

How would you structure it as a reporting tool so that it can stay away from potential law violations and thus lawsuits?

I wouldn't. 'Better than' is not the same as 'worthwhile'

Interesting! This is perhaps a bit more aggressive than I imagined my app to be, but I think Mikey is doing the people's work very well. After all, a car hitting me or my kids will statistically result in a death or at least severe injury. Cars are weapons and I can no longer pretend that I'm not concerned for our safety, especially with me being the primary breadwinner in my family.
