"People" meaning him

"Hurt" meaning real consequences for his actions

[–] kandoh@reddthat.com 12 points 1 day ago

If it wasn't so upsetting it would be funny that the people motivated by fury over elite pedophiles elected the biggest most elite pedophile to be their president.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 21 points 1 day ago

That's the whole point, isn't it? Exposing criminals and charging them will hurt them in all sorts of ways. Personal responsibility suggests that if you made your own bed then you lie in it. If you get a bunch of "powerful" cohorts doing the same thing it becomes a criminal conspiracy cabal with certain protections built in. I guess they find themselves "tween" a rock and a hard place.

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 19 points 1 day ago

Yes, that's kind of a big part of it. Wealthy elites did bad things and we want them to hurt because we all hurt and they're getting away with doing bad things.

This is not rocket science...

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 207 points 2 days ago (6 children)

And, by "people", he means himself, I guess?

[–] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 121 points 2 days ago (3 children)

He's the only one who exists to himself all the time

[–] dethedrus@lemmy.dbzer0.com 24 points 2 days ago (1 children)

When you envision him as a solipsist, every single decision makes sense. Well that plus a malignant narcissist who squandered a fortune and made a lot of very shady 'friends' along the way.

[–] Alaik@lemmy.zip 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Trump would have made more money if he just put his inheritance into an index fund, IIRC. Of course all the bribes and frivolous lawsuits companies "settled" may make that no longer a true statement.

It's the same "people" who always seem to be "saying" what he's thinking at any given moment.

I think it's a stretch to call Trump a Person.

I think Rape Goblin is closer to reality.

Him and the other pedos in the files.

[–] QuoVadisHomines@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago (4 children)

No, there are absolutely other very important wealthy people who are tied to Epstein. I saw a picture of Bezos and Eric Schmidt with Maxwell that supposedly was dated 2018.

There are going to be very important people who used Epstein and not all will be people you dislike.

If he was concerned about harming others, this would be the first time in his life. So yes he just admitted that he's in the files and he will be harmed if they're released.

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 150 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The people who will be hurt by the release of the Epstein files are people we need to hurt.

[–] takeda@lemmy.dbzer0.com 52 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Exactly, it's the whole point. I don't care who is there, if they were involved they need to be punished.

[–] meco03211@lemmy.world 19 points 2 days ago

It's hilarious all the conservatives are like, "but Bill Clinton is in them too!" As if we give a flying fuck if that whole family gets destroyed from the files.

[–] deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz 29 points 2 days ago

"They're hurting the wrong people"

[–] Bubbaonthebeach@lemmy.ca 36 points 2 days ago (2 children)

If by 'people' we mean rich men who have no regard for other people and feel they are outside the law, then yes, people. Better to call them what they are rich criminal men. Those criminals are the ones they are afraid of hurting not the actual victims of their abuse.

[–] cuerdo@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago (2 children)

There is only one people Trump cares about, you do the math

Isn't this actually the argument they are making to release Maxwell from prison? That the evidence proves her so guilty that she could not possibly have a fair trial.

[–] bender223@lemmy.today 32 points 2 days ago

yes, the correct people

[–] PearOfJudes@lemmy.ml 33 points 2 days ago (2 children)

MTG stands for Magic: The Gathering.

I'm sure it would, but lack of accountability hurts everybody

[–] SirEDCaLot@lemmy.today 17 points 2 days ago

Exactly!

If releasing a list of people who raped children would hurt those people, then I say too fucking bad maybe they need to be hurt a little bit.

[–] U7826391786239@lemmy.zip 58 points 2 days ago (2 children)

"hurt people" as a reason not to release the files

good. the "people" in this case are child rapist pedophiles. so yes, fucking hurt them.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 20 points 2 days ago

Let's be honest, there's exactly one person Trump cares about protecting.

[–] myfunnyaccountname@lemmy.zip 30 points 2 days ago

That’s the point. Protect the victims. Anyone else, prison. But yeah, that’s the whole point of releasing them. To hurt those that are involved in a human trafficking and pedophile ring.

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Long as it hurts him, let it FLOW

lol ... sounds a lot like the evangelical preacher with the million dollar private jet who asked his parishers to give more money to buy a second jet because it would save more people

(I remembered this story from a few years ago and thought it was 'a second jet' ... I was wrong ... the preacher was asking for donations to buy his FOURTH JET!!!)

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-44305873

Trump isn't running a country .... he's an evangelical preacher leading a ministry called the United States

[–] Foni@lemmy.zip 21 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Who the hell on Earth needs 4 jets?

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago

Ummmm........a small military? Maybe he wanted to kick it old school, and go back on 1700s era holy cruisades, but with modern firepower!

load more comments (1 replies)
[–] MagicShel@lemmy.zip 16 points 2 days ago (3 children)

It does raise a question of just how many jets a single person needs. I, myself, could make do with as few as two, but I have a large family. I'm sure someone who lived a more frugal lifestyle might struggle by with only one? But I don't see anyone needing more than three. It's just so hard to find places to park them all...

So hurting young women is okay, but hurting offender is not. Got it. Get F’d.

[–] MedicPigBabySaver@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago

Release the Trump/Epstein files

[–] Voroxpete@sh.itjust.works 18 points 2 days ago

OK, OK... Would you perhaps be willing to elaborate on which specific people maybe?

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 17 points 2 days ago (3 children)

The people in those files hurt children. Now I know Trump and the GOP don't actually care about children or even really pretend to, but still.

Everyone assumes he means himself, but I think this is more of a veiled threat to her safety.

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 19 points 2 days ago (6 children)

MTG is smarter than we've been giving her credit for.

She bailed out of Congress just after her pension kicked in, and before the midterms.

She'll be a talking head/pundit, sitting on the sidelines as the GOP goes down in flames, and then run in 2028 as the MAGats new hero.
