I think OP was meaning inthe long term. It's certainly made alternative energy attractive and investment there will pay off much faster.
Since when do CEOs care about the long term? They are gone yachting in 5 years.
Renewables were going to make that happen regardless.
We really need a replacement for plastic though. Even after the fuel use case is gone, plastic is still widely used despite being toxic and wrecking fertility for men. Plus the plants that create it today cause terrible health issues for the surrounding communities.
That's not actualy LAMF material.
Sure, the war Trump started may have heavily accellerated (and yes, sadly that is still only a "may") the move away from fossil fuels. But it also make those people much richer in the short-term. And that is all they care for: the short-term bottom line. The long-term problems are for someone else to solve later...
The only true calamity for these industries would be losing ownership of their wells. Or us making a few iterative leaps in energy storage in a short amount of time.
