why?
puppets are so much better than CGI. I've only watched the first 10 minutes (the theater had a blackout). But he felt more present than CGI characters. no matter how well done they are
I think it's because he looks like a dead baby cybernetic yoda that's in pain
Oh, I agree 100% about practical effects. I was sad because not only does it look like the cute Grogu has been mutilated by machinery, but the behind the scenes look kind of shatters the illusion of the character (kind of in the same vein of finding out that Santa isn’t real).

IIRC This is a fan-made prop done by Adam Savage's tested, not true behind the scenes footage. The actual grogu puppets used multiple puppets each with a set of specialized movements, none of which were anywhere near as comprehensively complex as this version!
