Not to mention there are plenty of mods that you can add to make it more tuned to how you want it.

Me and my girl are watching a bunch of different TV shows. Basically showing each other our favorites. While we were watching Dexter, it got removed from whatever platform it was on and moved to another one which meant we had to buy another service just to finish it.

After that, and seeing all of the price hikes, I realized I'd rather do a one time payment for any shows I watch especially because at the current pricing, DVDs are cheaper overall. That and streaming services are trying to add value to themselves by doing original TV. Most of it is garbage that I'll never watch, so there isnt much value in streaming for me anymore.

That sounds like a really cool setup for gaming. What games di you and your friends play mostly? My htpc is just a little used HP office PC. Far from cutting edge but great for my use case. I used to use a keyboard and mouse for navigation but I didn't like it. I settled on using an air mouse and keyboard combo. Its not perfect but it gets the job done.

I barely couch game but when I do, I use a controller.

Mostly my Linux htpc is used for streaming but not doing a ton of that anymore. I started buying DVDs again.

But nice to have the option for the two streaming services I do use or YouTube.

Oh yea, I'll do what I gotta do, but its nothing so serious. Most people in my life know I like to tinker so when I say they give me grief, I mean it in a more joking way. Honestly, people will give me things they think i might wanna play with. Mostly old tech. And they like when I'm there to fix things so they get it.

I'm very blessed with good people in my life who understand my "compulsion" lol

Me and my dad have talked about it before and you're absolutely right. Being able to fix somehing is just a great feeling.

And honestly, I bet if you take it apart and clean it, it'd probably continue behaving for you.

Everyone always gives me grief for keeping old stuff like this, but I bet i can find a use for just about anything. I try to keep what I think will be useful and I really just love fixing things if I can.

And that does sound interesting, maybe when I have some more spare time, I'll look into that.

After experiencing how easy everything is to get to in this thing, you bet I'm gonna try and keep it running for a long time!

My girlfriends icemaker suddenly stopped working the other day and since I had a day off today, I figured I could try and fix it.

After some troubleshooting, it seemed like the fan stopped working, so I grabbed an old PC fan that just so happened to be the same size, wired it in, and presto, one less thing in the landfill and a happy gf.

I do love an easy fix.

Hi all, using Pop!os on my main machine and have Windows on my work PC. I use a KVM switch to go between them.

This works pretty well for the most part but one thing that's annoying is when the KVM is set to the Windows PC, and I turn on my main PC, it will turn on, but it won't output to any monitor after I switch to it.

When the KVM is switched to the main PC before booting, it boots and displays to my 3 monitors without issue.

I assume this is due to my main PC trying to find an output and if it can't find one, just boot without, I just don't know how to change that behavior and searching online for documentation or similar issues hasn't gotten me any results unfortunately.

I'm using Wayland as well if that makes a difference. AMD 7700 XT GPU.

It seems this would be managed by systemd?I'm still learning the more in depth technical bits with Linux so please correct me if I'm wrong. I'm all about trying to learn.

Howdy all, so I've been looking to buy a 3D printer for a while now and now that I've got some money for it, ive been looking at the Ender 3 V3 SE as it seems to be a good sub $300 printer from the reviews.

However, I've heard that there were some bed leveling issues with it after a firmware update and I've been trying to find information if this has beem fixed or not yet.

So to anyone that has an Ender 3 V3 SE, has this been resolved? Is it ongoing? If it is, I'll likely buy something else as I'm just getting into 3D printing and I'd rather not tinker with it a ton.

I control my media pc running Popos with a remote mouse/keyboard combo I found on Amazon and while this works pretty good, I would like a more "big picture mode" like experience that works well with using a remote.

I know theres some distros out there that are geared specifically for a media pc but I don't wanna reinstall my system. My internet is painfully slow at times and drops out frequently (yay for rural America) so even doing system updates can take a long time or just time out. I'd rather not babysit my pc to get everything working again how i want it so if I could find just a desktop environment to use that would be great. If not, such is life.

So far, Plasma bigscreen looked the most promising: https://plasma-bigscreen.org/ but any recommendations would be helpful. I've tried looking some up myself but searching the web has become pretty useless for something more niche or specific like this and I figure the good people on here would have better advice anyways.
