Is Dd not an option? I dont get why every distro need their own usb image writer when dd and ventoy already exist.

Its called the insane-o-flex...

At least in aqua teen hungar force colon movie for theaters thats what its called.

I never saw any other movies with one but your drawing got me to realize aqua teen was obviosly doing a parody of them.

Its not peer to peer, you dont connect to a single poster, you need a provider. They arent "just" storage bins, usenet was primarily designed to be used for group discussions, but over time it became more used for piracy.

Usenet is many things, like email is smtp, or websites use http, usenet is nntp. I can explain mostly from a piracy aspect.

Some providers run servers which host archives that go back years, some host "binaries" (which can be stuff like software or movies) while others like google will only do text based content. The reason you need a provider is because storing decades worth of binary files takes a lot of space and that costs money.

The reason you want long retention is so you can find all the episodes of that show you want to watch that aired 10 years ago, or a movie that was last uploaded in 2015

Then there are usenet indexers like drunkenslug and nzb.su, they are similar to torrent trackers in that they have files with the information needed to locate a given binary file, most content is split into segments of 10s or 100s of mb

I used soundiiz, it costs $5 a month but i really just needed it the one month. I exported to a csv and then downloaded it all using tidal-dl and streamrip. You can import/export across a bunch of different serciservices.

I think it ultimately comes down to having to support another platform ads more work and risk then its worth.

For example theyd have to convince people to essentially break androids walled garden which means valve has to make sure everything they offer for android isnt malicous. Then there is the fact that phones are different specs, more testing, potential customer support ... Its a whole can of worms, but valve would gain little. There arent many people who want steam on their phones but dont already have it on pc.

Vavle is good at what they do, they have basically cornered the PC and portable PC markets already, i think not mucking around in an already monopolistic mobile market is a pretty wise business decision on their part overall.

Given the choice between gaming on your phone or a steamdeck, why would anyone choose the phone?

So i guess thats one reason why.

And hows that working out for epic?

Valves strategy of not doing anything new in the last decade while every other publisber shoots themselves in the foot seems to be working pretty well for them.

And give google 30‰ of what every android user purchases? Nutz!

I agree, but the 40gb limit on my phones "unlimited" plan seem to disagree with reality, as does the $30 per 500gb comcast would charge me if i use over 1.2tb....

Not saying it isnt false advertising, but its how a lot of internet service providers choose to advertise things these days.

It sounds like they banned you for excessive usage. They allow at least 1tb a month because ive used that amount regularly with them.

It is a bit misleading for them to be calling it "unlimited" tho
