Maybe we should step away from China for a moment given their government has a very strong motivation to keep tabs on its citizens and the fact their very mention is biasing the conversation and look at another country which has a strong smartphone presence and I often see posted on here as an example of privacy - Norway

We're effectively cashless (I don't think I've even handled cash since they swapped the banknotes over) and I think most people do their banking from bills to petty transfers on their phone. You can't get a physical bus card, because that's on your phone, or the ticket is attached to your bank card. We don't have an all encompassing WeChat or even like, any homegrown social media. I'm not exactly sure which aspect of WeChat you're honing in on so I can't say Norway does that too, but we do an awful lot via our phones. I do have some gripes about how some things are set up, but they're complaints that aren't actually exclusive to this specific system.

I personally think like the complete opposite - if there's anything that's a waste, it's a beyond meat burger, because veggie burgers are like, really fucking good. Why on earth would you settle for an inferior pretend product when you can instead have a really good thing that's not pretending to be something else?

Miss me with that fake meat stuff and bring back actual veggie burgers! I got a real nice sweet potato and refried black bean one I've been working on for a while now

This seems to be in a European city though

There's a reason why the tradies here mainly use vans instead of big honking trucks like these - something small and covered is much easier and more useful on small streets and is also just much safer

Also I dunno, Australia seems to run just fine on utes

Ok but like that asshole is using his money and power to donate to horrible stuff. Even if we take the stance that you shouldn't let someone's opinion ruin what they make, you're still helping him support his causes financially through using his platform.

Or wow, it's almost like people care about that sort of thing on the platform were most people came from Reddit or twitter because of the awful actions of their respective CEOs or something

As an outsider (and someone with this name situation), I'm morbidly curious about what happens when a kid has a name that's the opposite gender as them, either because it's a gender neutral name in their culture, or because their parents just named them like that? Because I have a sneaking suspicion they're suddenly going to be fine with 'unapproved nicknames' when their alternative is calling a boy Vyvian or a girl Terrance

because people with autism are rarely attracted to the banality of money. Business and economics are the most boring thing for autistic people

...you do realise economics is like, maths but with more organisation and planning right? Two things that are sterotypically pretty damn appealing to a lot of autistic people. I think you're severely low balling the number of people who's "special interest" is compound interest and poisson distributions

I feel like all these utopian ideas fail to take into account that uh, autism takes a lot of different forms and some of them ask for completely opposite things.

Some autistic people have a...laissez-faire approach to hygiene, some are neurotic about being clean. Some stim, others would rather commit murder than hear that goddamn toy go "clicky clack" one more fucking time. Some are hyperempathetic with no sense of personal space, others have low empathy and just want to be left the fuck alone. And that's before you start considering comobidities - I think most people with ADHD would rather die than eat deliberately understimilating "autism cusine"

I feel like most people here are answering "what would it look like if everyone was your specific brand of autism?" not "what would it look like if most people were autistic?"

I'd say either we end up with everyone forming tight cliches (not good for a greater society) or one group overpowers the rest and enforces their "lack of social skills" as the new social norm. Now it's "don't look directly at people" and "be as blunt as possible" and "chili is banned forever"

Munchkin is a great game, but it's one you can't play with board game or TTRPG people. You need either alcohol or people who aren't used to/don't worship strict board game rules and who aren't afraid to muck about with stupid shit or pile on other players. The sort of person who's favourite game is CAH or "uh....I dunno chess maybe?', not "here's my six hour dissertation on why Jamestown: now with Wheat is the best"

Ah, must be client side then. Well, tbh the spoiler isn't even something from the game - it's something we only learnt about way back in the Waking Titan ARG

It's very much a game that's built around finding other people and building a community - that's why the various player made factions are given the official thumbs up and everything. Just a big ol' sandbox.

If you want something with more character and story, I'd go to the expeditions - they're unfortunately time limited (though HG usually reruns all of them at the end of the year), but they all offer a self contained story outside of the main plot that takes place in a smaller space and usually contain more characters and give your character a role that's actually integrated with the larger world (like for example, in one of them we were explorers with the cartography guild out to document a worm cult). Also they're usually full of interesting gameplay restrictions to use and abuse which is fun. Imo it's the most interesting thing the game has to offer.

Also idk about the newer ones but the old ones last forever. You might need to change their battery but that's not too hard. I got a kindle keyboard that's been going strong for over a decade now.

Also kindles work fine with calibre, you just need a different file format. Mine can read PDFs! (I do not reccomend reading PDF scans on a kindle)
