A Valley Without Wind 1 and 2. Not big. Not well known. But damn I love em!

Surprised to see this in the thread. Agreed it’s a fun game!

Fair enough. The ease of setup and use is a powerful feature. Though it’s not too hard to confugre a solid long running machine. Just upgraded my old Intel i5 4xxx 750TI machine only because Windows is a pain. Haven’t been able to play a AAA title in a minute though lol.

I’m just thinking about the people I know who purchased a PS5 Pro and I’m not sure they’re going to be the ones tinkering with proton settings on a Linux desktop.

We will surly see as time goes by. And I’m planning to get one if I can because I like tinkering and messing with things.

Ah. I’ve not been following price rumors/talks. And $399 made me think of the old steam deck pricing. Wild that someone would be that convinced a more powerful chunk of hardware would be so much less expensive than current steam deck prices.

$399? Are you talking about the steam deck? I think the article is talking about the steam machine.

Agreed tho, the cost of the steam machine will overpower what little value the hardware could provide. I don’t see it succeeding at this time. Especially when you can still cobble together a reasonably powered Linux machine.

Will also be interesting to see what future AAA titles do with the stagnant system hardware for the next few years.

Was just chatting with my friend who’s been joining me on the road to play some games. We were talking about button combos and what make them good. I was grumbling about the combos in Warrior Within but then thought of combos in Magicka 1 being great… I am a native PC player though….

Still will jokingly yell the key combo for lighting at my friends to this day ha ha!

It still feels so cinematic too! The camera angles for free running, the level design, the slo-mo put your weapons away after a fight, and the character arcs.

lol, the musical tonal shift in Warrior Within is wild from the first one. The first time Dhaka showed up and started chasing me though the jam hit and it was great.

I’m going back and playing older games (and some newer ones). Games I played as I was younger, games I never played but saw on shelves or heard referenced over the years, and games from franchises I’ve heard about for a long time. A long and fun road ahead. For the most part I have original hardware but I have used FPGA and Software emulation too. I’d like to just post some thoughts as I go through with no regular cadence. Not a review.

Just finished Prince of Persia Sands of Time on PS2. I have to say, a bit buggier than I recall. I had originally played it on a different system. Camera controls are jank and the audio seemed tricky. Often lines were delivered really quietly and someone else would be super loud.

All that said, what a great game! Gameplay usually felt solid, characters were all interestingly designed, and the sound design overall was fantastic. Loved it and glad I replayed it.

Short ish (7hrs at 98% complete). Felt like it had great pacing, good mix of action and story, great voice acting, and fun writing. Has a bit of fan service which was annoying but overall, loved it.

Directly following it up with Prince of Persia Warrior within. What a tone shift lol.

Anyone play it back in the day or revisit it recently?

Just got the final star spirit in Paper Mario on my N64. Getting close I think! Trying to not use a guide (relatively easy in this game). Been loving it so far. Getting the timing right can be tricky in the battles though!

Also playing Mole Mania on my handheld. Great little game that has me puzzling out solutions. Cute art and animations too!
