Swapping back and forth all of the time is getting to be a monotonous. I would like to sell one and keep the other. In the beginning I was very partial to the explorer but sometimes I can’t imagine not having the date function. Plus the DJ does sit a larger on the wrist and that is also nice. Tough choice here to just walk away with one…So help me decide because I am really at an impasse with this..

Doesn’t the explorer have a better movement and clasp?

It also has the better wearing bracelet.

I prefer the explorer. Both are lovely watches though.

The datejust one looks like it has more going on but without being overstated. Looks more classy somehow? More appealing to my eye anyway and I don't really like them much. They were always more sought after too if I recall so value would be good.

I would go for the Explorer. I'm not a fan of PCL's, they scratch far to easily.

DJ.

I’m in the super minority, but the Explorer dial on wrist looks oddly proportioned. Maybe the Arabic numbers are too big — I don’t feel that was with 34mm references that have Arabic numbers. It doesn’t seem that way in pictures but on wrist I was instantly turned off.

Right. All day long. Not even close.

[–] gratefulscape@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Explorer but only during waking hours, not even close.

Always Explorer

my choice would be explorer

[–] EternalNujabes@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Explorer for me.

Left is infinitely cooler …there can be no other answer.

[–] Astorga97@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

i like the explorer's overall brushed finish compared to the mostly polished on the datejust. guess it comes down to what you're looking for in the finish

[–] cdaack@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Left. Or you can sell it to me 😂

[–] Distance_Runner@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Personally, I prefer the Datejust. I prefer watches with date and think it’s more versatile for most people.

[–] beet_taco@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Explorer IMO. if it was good enough for Don Draper, it’s good enough for you. I also think it has more personality / a more distinctive design language than the Datejust.

DJ looks classier and I need a date function. I’ve also never liked the look of the Explorer on anything other than a bracelet, whereas the DJ looks good on a leather strap too.

I'd keep the Explorer of the two...not a big fan of polished center links.

[–] TheModerateGenX@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Not sure why it’s “monotonous” to change the watch you pick for the day, but if I had to pick one I would take the right.

I too am a date bitch and for that reason alone, the DJ

i love the explorer, but you mentioned the date, so if it is something you value more over looks, keep the datejust

Explorer FTW

[–] pdxtrader@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The right one is speaking to me, love the contrasting brushed/polished metals

[–] midLevelManagement@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

For a black dial, the Explorer has always felt like a more well-balanced design. The brushed case, the 3/6/9 against the black dial, and lack of the white date wheel makes it feel like a more cohesive package to me. With different dial colors, I think the Datejust really shines, and it would be a harder choice. Just my opinion though - both beautiful watches.

Explorer. It's awesome.

Also I hate the cyclops.

[–] AbsolutFred@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Date va no date? Date.

I sold the right to get the left. DJ is an incredible watch….the explorer just a bit more special.

DJ. I think the Explorer II is far superior to I

[–] NotFrankZappaToday@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I'm a sucker for sport watches with baton hands, so I would rock that DJ all day, and twice on Sundays.

[–] SanderDieman@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Simple: keep BOTH

[–] _echnaton@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I'm a date man myself too, so right.

[–] ProofMusic4630@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Definitely right

[–] plk7@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I would usually say Explorer without hesitation, but that DJ is very attractive. Might have to against type.

[–] jaytcfc@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Right obviously

[–] brogued@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Tough call, right.

[–] Brothaman221@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The DJ is imo the more versatile und subjectively more aesthetically pleasing of the two

[–] obfuscatorio@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

For a daily driver I’d pick the DJ. I gotta have the date. Plus I like stick markers better than 3-6-9, it’s a cleaner look.
