Started a start up in fintech in payments. Anyone have experience or advice they can give in regards to this?. Anything will help, not looking for any specific question answered but just want to know what you thought when you worked in this industry.

I want to start a business buying dead stock jewelry and refurbishing it. I really love dead stock and I enjoy turning old things into their new form. I need seed money however. I applied for a small business loan from the us business website and I got contacted by mainly scammy type people like Newity. Is there a better source for small business seed money?

Hey so I've been to a couple parties and heard about others in my area. It's an average sized city, around 45,000 people with a college campus.

I had an idea recently just to stack some extra cash. Hosting house parties with an entry fee and sold beer, ext. Nothing major but it got me thinking.

Would I potentially be able to rent out venues and handle everything from everything event wise. Just a small idea I'm thinking about.

Hey I have been operating a rope access maintenance company for just over a year now doing around 300k turn over a year with 3 guys part-time I have still been working on the mines for another company in my downtime . And have recently been approached by a few clients for larger than our normal scale projects $600k> I have only had to deal with $50k< jobs in the past . So this is out of my comfort zone but I love it . For all jobs in the past I just would go out buy the material myself and add it to my quote then invoice at the end .

So one of the clients the materials alone are around 80k this is well out of my capability to cover with out payment first and I would feel stupid even considering that .

Because I have never done this before I'm not sure where to start is it as easy as putting in your terms payment for materials upfront or should I ask for 50% then the other when it's needed .

What is the correct procedure to follow is the main question .

A Coursera, Udemy style website/platform where students can receive, for example, a Math problem every night at 7 pm and complete it. Would want it to have features like showing progress and scores, etc...

Is this something I can achieve with a website builder or it would require custom code? I'm not a programmer

I'm seeking advice on finding a simpler way to identify and reach out to potential leads.

Currently, we manually search on LinkedIn by active job postings (assuming they need someone with specific skills and can potentially be subcontractors), inputting the information into Excel. In the next step we utilize tools like Hunter IO and Apollo to obtain email addresses of the employees by the domain of the company. At the end, we run campaigns in Hunter IO, which sends emails at specific times.

As a small company without a CRM tool, we're considering getting a license if it can enhance our processes. Do you have any recommendations for easy tools or tricks to streamline this lead generation process? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Hi guys. Looking some guidance/thoughts.

Back story; a few years back I had worked my way up in a small design agency from a designer and was asked to become director which was an absolute dream of mine. Fast forward 6 very short months later and the other Director fucked me over and the whole business collapsed and I was left with nothing.

I was in a very low place for a very long time and it’s only now some 5 years later I’m feeling more like my old self.

I’m now working in another agency and love it. The people I work with are amazing, the majority of the clients are great and I feel as happy as I’ve ever felt in my career.

But it’s not enough.

I’m 38 and keep feeling like “is this it?”. I want more but I don’t know what it is I want exactly. I guess I look at my boss and know I could do that (and have done that) very well and want to scratch an itch that’s still there.

I guess I’m asking am I mad for even considering doing my “own” thing again? My family were put through a lot of pain the last time it failed but it wasn’t my fault and I want to prove myself.

TLDR; after being at rock bottom in my career I’ve now got my confidence back but am unsure what to do next

This is something that needs to be said. Let me elaborate: give up on your business idea, not your business. I've failed at so many startups and have been lucky enough to have succeeded with a few. Almost every single time, the initial idea morphed into something completely different by the time we launched and/or started picking up traction. One of the biggest problem with first-time startup founders is that they are too afraid to deviate from their initial idea.

I've had to learn this the hard way.

For 3 years I worked away at an idea I thought was what people wanted, a pretty unique software solution for competitive monitoring, without ever doing the proper research and market validation. Needless to say it didn't take off the way that I had hoped. My latest venture, which I'll drop in here for those who are curious: EvermailAI.com (a software that automatically collects information about your prospects and leverage artificial intelligence to create personalized messages) which has seen considerable success - 700+ signups at the time of writing this - initially started as an internal tool for our marketing team!

My point being, you never know where you or the market is going, so be open to changing the initial vision. I see too many people stubbornly sticking to the same idea without listening to their customers, their team, and their supporters. It might be time for you to give up on your business idea, but not your business! Go you! 📈

Hello everyone,

I (21M) currently work as a software engineer remotely. I am earning just at least to cater for my need as a young guy but i dont see myself writing code for a very long time although i love coding.I have been looking inwards on what I can do and i realized i would love to learn to build companies. I want to be like someone like brett adcock but with enough technical skills. I am interested in learning to build companies and making thinks work also.

Worth i am currently a mehanical engineering undergraduate in my senior year along side with my job. I don't where to start or what to start out with and the things i should be focusing on if i want to move in that line of learning to build a company.

Should i just start out and look for a niche to build in or what exactly should i do and proceed. I really would want to wake up in the future and be happy to be going to work knowing i am impacting the world we are and i am hoping to dedicate this decade of my life to this. I love brett adcock who built vettery, archer and figure. I believe it is so much fun and hard at the same time.

I am just out here seeking for advice on where to start and anybody in the same journey to building successful companies and how it has been so far.

I'm a banker getting decent pay, single, no mortgage... Should I quit my job to focus on my own business? Ive learned software development and built my MVP for a niche market. Reason was, I'm sick of office politics and forever pleasing my bosses and always trying to prove myself to them. Thinking of, if I put the same amount of energy to my own business, what could I have possibly achieved.

Currently I work full time 9-5, and work on the technology at night til 2am most time. Even weekends. Exhausting, but it worked fine. I've just finished building my product and ready to move on to marketing and acquiring customers. The problem is, customer acquisition would require me to be talking to customers during the day.

Pls give your advice on how have you, or would you would navigate this kind of situation. Would you quit your job?

In 1974, Bill Gates dropped out of Harvard and became a co-founder of Microsoft – a computer software company in 1975, which later made him be among the wealthiest man in the world. In the beginning, Bill Gates took an interest in programming the General Electric system in BASIC but later pursued his interest.

Furthermore, he built his first computer program on a General Electric machine, contributing to his success today. Besides, Gates read an article in 1975 that demonstrated the Altair 8800. He developed an interest, and this made him displayed the process on a minicomputer and the BASIC interpreter.

However, IBM approached Microsoft to write a BASIC interpreter for the new IBM PC. He proposed using 86-DOS owned by SCP, an operating system similar to the PC. After adapting the operating system for the PC, Microsoft delivered it to IBM for a one-time exchange fee of $50,000. Guess what! He became famous.

Not quite long after he made the exchange, the press quickly identified Microsoft as influential on the new computer. At first, the computer was called by an expert in the field as ‘Gates computer.’ From that, the company restructured on the 25th of June 1981, and Gates became CEO.

Additionally, Bill Gates created competition and innovation among organizations, many of which had unique needs and market opportunities. Similarly, the Microsoft business model chooses to accommodate the needs of multiple and competing customers that later led to the company’s growth.

WHAT CONTRIBUTED TO MICROSOFT SUCCESS?

Many things contributed to Microsoft's success, but we will walk you through the basic facts and ideas. They have certainly had their failures, but in all ramifications, they have always demonstrated an ability to recover. Below are the few things that contributed to Microsoft's success.

· An excellent interactive process between employees and the CEO

· The basis for employees salaries, bonus, incentives, and possible promotions

· Accommodating the needs of multiple, competing, OEMs, and customers

· Smartness and financial resources that allow them to endure failures

· Great success with their flagship operating system (Windows), Microsoft office, and others

· Investing in data management, artificial intelligence (AI), and quantum computing

· Persistence, perseverance, and risk-taking experience

· Meeting key objectives that promote effective teamwork

· Keeping abreast of what is happening in the broader technological context

· Productivity is Microsoft’s key buzzword, and this also contributed to its success

WHAT MADE MICROSOFT SO SUCCESSFUL?

One of the critical things that made Microsoft a successful business is because of the company’s standards. Bill Gates founded Microsoft in 1975, and they have the resilience and ability to respond to changing technologies, business opportunities, and market demand. Moreover, they revolutionized how we live.

Bottom Line

There are lots of lessons from Bill Gates's success story. His incredible vision has marked his career. Nonetheless, Microsoft beat out the competition mainly as the company focus on innovation. Today, Microsoft has shifted away from consumer tech to becoming advertising-based online services.

Hi guys. I am starting an online business that basically helps people understand what type of therapy they need and connects them with the therapists. I would like your insight into the next questions.

WEBSITE I would like your insight about which platform should I use for the website. My idea is to have enrolment for customers, therapists and partners. Will it be easier if I set up an e-commerce store on Shopify or others like it? Is it possible to have those features? The idea is that after the therapy happens, the therapist and the customer get a voucher from a partner. So this will only happen in the backstage. It's not available in the store. I need this to be automated. This is an incentive to keep them inside the platform.

PAYMENT Which payment methods should I use since the customer will pay for the therapy and I will take a %. Is there a way for the customer to pay directly to the therapist and I just get my %? I will start this in Europe initially.

Thank you in advance

I am looking for a serious cofounder and CTO, who is willing to join me on an idea that I have been working on for the last several months. Although I am an engineering leader, I have spent a lot of my time on sales in the previous company that I co-founded. I will be focusing on gaining early customers, while I am looking for a co-founder to come on board and build an MVP that can be sold right away.
The skills I am looking for a React, Node, AWS, and GraphQL. I have used the same stack in my previous company and had a tremendous run building and changing the product as needed.
I am happy to hop on a call and walk you through the idea and the game plan. It is completely okay if you want to do this on the side until we raise some capital which I hope to do in about 6 months and will be investing on my own as well.

Hello, I need help generating a few ideas. I was just homeless for the last 9 months. I’m a single mom. My brain is just not working so well anymore with the stress. Please help me generate some ideas I can develop into a $10k/month income that I can focus on developing for a couple hours a day free time. I have $0 to start. Maybe a “boring company.” Thank you.

Hi everyone. I am not a business person. Nothing to my name really. But I do have this idea that’s been haunting me so I thought why not take a stab at it. I want to make a sound machine with custom sounds that I will make for it, to target a specific audience. Iv been googling how to make this happen but honestly no luck. Any idea on where I can start? If I am able to produce a sound machine with my own sounds in it I would like to sell it on Amazon.

Hello, asking in all seriousness. No judgment. I have been married 20 years, we have sold a few very small businesses together and have three kids. Recently, our latest business has been in the works, not profitable for 4 years. He has been relying on my income solely for the past 7, while he had 4 failed companies in a row. He is a “creative”, but I make the business, money happen. I had a small windfall and we put that into this latest venture. Now I am in my early 40’s and this company is starting to take off. He is also getting notoriety from it(writer) and often has to sign books for women in their20’s. They are all flirting eyes, and I am right there. He seems totally open to it. Let me say, I am no dog at all! I mean I am beautiful. However; I am about 3 inches taller than my spouse. I think the attention he is getting is giving him options he didn’t have.

Prior to this he has always been very loving and loyal. I am no dummy and don’t put up with shit, doesn’t hurt that my family is all lawyers and judges.

My mother in law is in town and has told me to throw the hammer down, she doesn’t like what she sees. His father is a monster, and she told me to “protect myself”. I think she senses what I do.

I will be adding my name to the company with 50% ownership in January. I invested all the money, own/bought the house and all the vehicles. The problem is when I saw I want 50% of ownership and voting rights he flipped out and said, “I don’t want to be in a position where I am fighting my ex wife for what I built”. I told hime, then I pull my credit and funds from the company. I will not be in a position where he buys me out for the value of the company in year one, when two years later it will be worth 10x that. I want to be sure that my kids get the value and not someone else’s.

He has worked me to the bone while working full time. Is this a common thing for “Entrepreneurs”?

I’m quite good and experienced in start up tech development and I thought about selling estimations for building tech solution and identify frictions and difficulties, is there something that could be interesting for entrepreneurs ?

It could be for web app, SaaS, AI products, mobile app, algorithms, etc etc

I’m not sure where else to turn for advice on this, but at a bit of a crossroads and not sure what to do next.

TL;DR: have an awesome & unique product but no cash. Sell IP & ownership for minority stake in successful company or try and raise the capital to get it done myself?

I created a beverage which is an “alcohol alternative” that still gives a little glow/buzz without the use of alcohol or other illegal/regulated substances. The product works, and I have created a couple small scale batches for release to friends, family, etc and got great reviews for taste & effect. I have 2 more flavours I’ve developed and a roadmap for how distribution would look.

Now, I was approached by a guy that I let sample the product this weekend and he offered to partner up, and get this thing off the ground in a meaningful way. It would come under his label of existing products as an extension of the portfolio and tap his distribution channels, etc. this comes at a cost of giving up the IP & recipe to hold a minority stake in the sub-company

Second option:

Raise the capital, and retain full ownership over the IP & hit the ground running.

The first option is easy, but the drawbacks are so huge in the long run. I can see this taking off and giving up such a large piece is not a great feeling.

Second option is a bit harder as I’m not sure how to raise the capital needed. I have a business plan, and the confidence in the product and an ability to sell. But I lack the start up capital to get the first real batches in production along with the ancillary stuff such as website, and a bit of swag/promo during the initial sales kick off.

What would YOU do!?

And tips/advice would be stellar! Location: Canada
