We were 6-7 I think and seemingly out and then won 4 straight. Maybe the football gods are giving Mr. Davis a mulligan?

Since Gruden was fired, we hired Rich Bisaccia, and he took us to the playoffs. We let him go and hired McDaniels. Fired him, and now we’re in the same position with AP. If he gets fired, there’s probably a low chance of signing Harbaugh, and the cycle will restart.

Since the Raiders are off, who are you guys hate watching today? I'll be watching chargers v. patriots. If the chargers lose their coach probably gets fired. If the patriots lose, it just feels good to see it. It's a no lose situation today.

What do yall do when we are on bye week?

I still throw on some Raiders gear, watch some games, the usual food/snack action.

Is this normal?

So your telling me there’s a chance?!

I admittedly wanted Carr gone. I don't hate the guy, in fact always wanted him to succeed with us. However, I just think we gave him way too many chances and could see he just doesn't have what it takes. Kinda felt like he wanted to be a Raider partly because he knew we gave him every benefit of the doubt for so long.

Even though I kinda wanted whatever team got him to get the "Derek Carr Experience", I wanted him to do decently.

New Orleans fans HATE him. Like not how Raiders we're frustrated of seeing the same inconsistency for 10 years, but more of a Josh McDaniels type of fan hate. Go on X and just search "Derek Carr" trending posts. Go on r/Saints and just scroll. I mean it's BAD.

Even though I thought it was time to move on, I feel really bad for him. He is back up material. Jimmy G doesn't even get this kind of hate from us.

To top it off he got SMASHED today by Bruce Irvin. I pray he's okay.

That being said, please don't come back to Raiders next year LOL

Playing Sea of Thieves, need good names for my ship because I'm going full pirate during the bye week.

All this speculation about everything from possible HC candidates, what moves need to be made to adequately prep for the draft, past decisions made by the McZiegler twins (aka Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumber)--it is an endless list!!! Has there been any analysis or meta-analyses on a moneyball approach to football? I'm a data scientist but this is not my domain. I find it all very confusing so would love to see some math.

I was tempted to flair this as "satire," but apparently this analyst thinks it'll happen.

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/2024-nfl-mock-draft-bears-trade-justin-fields-to-raiders-and-select-drake-maye-patriots-land-caleb-williams/

Quote: "The Bears could have a conundrum at the quarterback spot on their hands in the offseason, but I have a solution.
In this mock, the Bears do what is probably best for the future of the team and Justin Fields himself: They trade him to give him a fresh start, and get some early picks in the process. Given how hyped the quarterback class is, Chicago -- likely holders of two top five picks -- shouldn't pass on a young, talented and inexpensive option at the game's most vital position."

Yeah, never mind looking at the Raiders' perspective in this pipe-dream. We have way too many areas that need addressed, including the gaping holes along our O-line.

Now let me preface this by saying, I don't want any hostility towards anyone here. This is a genuine discussion I want with you all as this seems to be the big topic now entering the bye week.

Looks like AOC won't be the guy (I feel this even with what I have to say), dude is just too immobile for todays NFL and just doesn't have the arm to be a true Raider QB. We NEED downfield accuracy, it's why I feel so many were able to put up with Carr for so long cause he could throw dime 60+ yards. Don't get me wrong, AOC is a solid player and I hope he can fix his woes, but that's up to him and his work ethic cause those issues are physical and mechanical. However, a lot of it has to do with habit and muscle memory which is a tough task to rewrite so it's not likely he succeeds here unless we hire some QB guru.

With all that being said, us as a collective of fans have now shifted our crosshairs toward the future and have begun discussions on which QB to take in the draft. Last year and into this year, people were clamoring about how this QB class was a great one and had some depth to it unlike last year. Unfortunately, each game I see or hear about just gives me less and less confidence in it. Quarterbacks entering the NFL are such a crapshoot and I'd really hate to waste resources and the time our stars have here trying to get some poor kid to quickly acclimate to everything the job of an NFL QB comes with.

Let's look to Andy Reid and the Queefs, they picked up Alex Smith and he did what was asked of him while the FO built a team around him that could keep the team at a playoff level as long as the signal caller was anyone who could play at an above average level. This is a strategy Raider Nation MUST employ.

As of now, our biggest areas of need outside the QB position are (in no particular order): Offensive Line, interior D-Line, CB1 & both Safety positions. We need an immediate impact player at one of these positions in the upcoming draft or it's just gonna be more of what we're seeing now, next year. Simple focusing on our needs in the trenches alone would pretty much give this team the juice it needs to be a playoff contender.

Given some of the names at QB going into FA (Cousins, Tannehil, Mayfield), I just dont see why it would be a big deal to get one of these guys while we build up this team and get them to a competitive, playoff level of football so that way the QB won't have to be asked to do much. Tell em to do their best Trent Dilfer and trust the team and system around him to do most of the work. That way we don't have to try so hard to "pick the right guy" and instead let the right find come to us like Mahomes did with the Chiefs. I think a lot can be said when a team is more relaxed at picking their future because they e got everything else secured. Most teams in huge distress and dysfunction tend to make sloppy decisions because they need to act now. We can avoid this if we just get this team to be complete with a game manager.

I'm looking to get my uncle a Raiders jersey and was curious who the fan favorites tend to be. The list of names I was given are Tim Brown, Charles Woodson, Jerry Rice, Jack Tatum, Bo Jackson, and Fred Biletnikoff. I'm leaning towards either Bo or Woodson, but am curious as to what Raiders Nation thinks

Some interesting stuff on how Gruden went through Bruce Allen to talk to Al. It seems as if there wasn’t much of a relationship. I would also guess that he didn’t have a relationship with Mark the first time around either.

To TE?

Midseason.

We won't lose any production from the DE spot. Think about it.

Since he can't get un-blocked, maybe he can block?

I've heard that he is a safe driver too. Maybe he can designate from here on out. Learn the best routes to and from the strip bars and bars and casinos. Then that 1st rd pick starts paying off!

Also, learn a joke or two. Help the locker room camaraderie. Be one of the "characters."

Have to SERIOUSLY re-build O line or you are wasting their talent and throwing salary cap down the drain. And I’m not talking about 3rd or 4th rounders. Go sign the best RT in free agency. Draft a stud center in 2nd round.

I can’t watch Andre James get rag-dolled any more. He’s a backup. So is Van Rouen and Eluemunor

Anyone have experience selling a ( Ticketmaster)ticket game day at the stadium. I’ve never dealt with these digital tickets before. TIA

Who’s everyone’s QB1 next year coming out of the draft. Thought it would be cool to see this post this time next year and see who the real couch GMs are. I think Penix is the best QB in college right now but his age has most people concerned and he’s had his share of injuries. Caleb Williams was most people’s QB1 until a couple weeks ago, then I think most people fell in love with Maye. But the past 3 weeks he’s looked bad against weak ACC defenses. Right now everyone is raving about Jayden Daniel’s TD to INT ratio and comparing him to Burrow with Joe having much better WRs. Who cares where we might draft if we had the 1st pick and didn’t have to sell the farm to get it who are you pounding the table for? I have to say Daniels he’s done great this year and he could be the next great Mobile QB.
