By the traditional definition they are kind of wrong. I don't agree at all with Googles relentless data harvesting and ads, but the software isn't going to make copies to hide itself on your phone and make it difficult to remove. You would be able to uninstall it like any other app without it leaving anything behind.

So it is more like adware than a virus.

I don't think anybody is saying that it's not. I think the people are saying that it's kind of funny that it's Huawei being hypocritical enough to even mention the word virus.

Happened to me too. it suggested to delete the app (there was even a button for it directly) but as expected, nothing happened :(
