If your sample consists of nomads, is that really surprising? Like if I was happy in the US I wouldn’t be in South America right now.

Argentinian citizenship has been a way many Russians have escaped their country since the start of the Ukraine war. The Argentinian passport is strong, they don’t require you to renounce other citizenship, and you can obtain full citizenship after only a few years.

I’ve looked into it myself and will likely pursue it within the next few years. It might not be exactly what you’re looking for, but definitely worth considering.

Not really what you were getting at, but actually yes the US did peak in the 90s. It was the height of our global power and influence before 9/11 and the forever wars. We had high quality of life, and a political climate that was far less polarized.

Pegging it to the dollar only works if you have actual dollars, and using a separate currency allows other politicians down the line to unpeg it or print more money and just lie. There won’t be a separate currency because actual dollars accomplish the stated goal better.

IMO you won’t see a cap entirely removed. He will want average Argentinians to be able to convert all of their money, but theres a good chance he will burn the elite and turn a chunk of their money to toilet paper. There’s not a compelling reason to let them convert all of their money when you could just burn them reducing the money supply and combating inflation.

If eating a simple but nutritionally complete meal sends you to therapy, you're incredibly weak-willed or have never heard of spices.

Unrelated, but can I ask why you settled on Maine initially? I was looking for somewhere in New England to build a cabin on a good size parcel of land, but their income tax rates made me cringe even being from Connecticut.

food alone in the US it's hard to get under $20/day

This is crazy to me because I’m routinely under that, even accounting for $6 a day in energy drinks.

A microwavable bag of broccoli ($1.20), a can of beans ($1), a pound of chicken/beef ($3), and a cup of rice (<$0.50) should cover anyone’s caloric needs while being quite healthy. Maybe add in a few eggs if needed and a multivitamin to be safe, but we’re still well under $10.

Even without access to a kitchen, $20 is still a lot. I’m a 6’2” man and $8 on the Taco Bell value menu is overkill for me.

Just switched to Mint a month ago and I was already having some regrets while traveling. Looks like I’ll be making another switch in December. Google Fi maybe?
