I personally split the difference now. I think if the hive mind was completely rational, liberty/ancap must work in principle.

But propaganda, and moreover just how much violence people are raised with even still on average in western households, let alone the insane variance in parenting quality from China to the hyper religious Middle East to the current lead-filled (or micro plastic filled?) brains of Trumpers to the insane gang violence of Mexico and South America to the total rape of the continent of Africa… prohibits there from being any volume of rationality required to make it possible for at least another 200 years.

…except before 200 years we will have needed to solve for all of our global crises anyway to avoid extinction (at least there is a non negligible chance)—and thus some mix of socialism via the state, and the “market” AKA Earth dying, with the occasional bout of rational zeitgeist, is the only way to save Earth and explore the stars.

All hail Sterlin Harjo!

Conceptually seems compelling… not enthralled with the execution and over reliance on current stock footage. Should have focused on the fiction after establishing stock footage without then continuously cutting back to it like a crutch.

Discovery should not be a function of the Fediverse itself. It should be a tool, app, or otherwise layer on top of a baseline. Discovery is an opinionated service offering—if it’s baked in, it’s not a good thing IMO.

10 years old is entirely too young for this film. Mature 13-14 year old is definitely the earliest anyone should watch this.

Top 10 lemmy comment IMO.

It’s the best Lemmy though.

The only valid list as it includes It Follows.

Pig is top 3. I think Raising Arizona and Lord of War or Con Air are the other top 3.

Also none of these are cult classics, save Blade Runner before it had a rebirth.

My poor Worf.

Gotta be the GOAT character in all of Trek. The roar pierced my soul.

DS9 has now passed TNG in my heart.

Is this the community for this post?

EDIT: wow guys. I meant E26. 24 episode format got my head mashed. Times Orphan is awful. I meant the finale! (No spoilers!)

Original post title for reference was “ First time DS9... just finished S6E24” — when I meant to reference Tears of the Prophets.

This low budget superhero satire is a self-aware but serious twist on the genre.

Trailer

Hilarious, well-paced, less than 90 minutes, dope low budget action scenes and a banger ending. Truly a good find. Worth the purchase if it’s available in your country.

Rewatched this for the first time since I was 5 or 6.

Holy cow - the animation is mind blowingly next level. Apparently, it was the first digitally finished animated film, ever.

Yet, it completely tanked at the box office. Its director also later did Pocahontas, and animated most Disney hits in the last 30 years.

Do yourself a favor and rewatch this gem. No need to watch the original first. It’s a completely different film.
