Each one of these items and tokens and sheets is important. Each one of these pieces have been carefully considered by brilliant designers. Their role is clear. If I looked right now, I’m sure every token is explained somewhere in a game manual that unfortunately reads like a VCR repair guide that’s been run through Google Translate eight times. ‘Remember to put the second deck over the initial deck so the last piece from the regular meeples pool does not cross into the irregular meeples pool before the dice rolls a zero’. That’s not an actual line in the manual; I’m too lazy to dig through a board game box that’s larger than the ones I use to move furniture. Someone will get mad at me about this and, honestly, they are right.

Because I'm writing this from Europe in the future where it's already Sunday. Timezones be crazy.

Why are there a bunch of non-board games in the board game list?

Because the Tabletop games category on Kickstarter includes anything remotely related to board games and sometimes things slip through my filters.

Why is this future award winning board game and literal saviour of humanity missing from your list?

Sometimes my filters get a bit overzealous and discard actually valid projects. If you feel something is missing for this reason, leave a comment and I'll add it (maybe).

Hey Everyone,

I used to play MTG back in the day (sold my decks years ago) but now that I'm a dad the launch of Lorcana has me diving back into TCGs with Lorcana. I've been following news and discussions on other sites. Mainly that other one and on discord. I was wondering how much interest there is in starting an official Lorcana community. I know there is a new one on dbzer0 that is inactive, so l'm thinking of starting one on Lemmy.world and seeding it with content if there are enough people that are interested.

It would mainly focus on news and gameplay discussions. Things like daily or weekly card discussions and announcements. As far as trading and selling I would encourage others to take that to DMs but wouldn't necessarily be against it unless it becomes an issue (revealing personal info and what not). So it wouldn't strictly be a trading community. Just something to stay in the know, discuss, show off your pulls and collections. That sort of thing.

Mods, if this post is out of line please let me know and I'll remove it. I searched around and couldn't find a better place to gauge interest, even though TCGs aren't technically board games.

Also, for anyone interested, I am a mod of a few other very active communities already. You can check my profile. So I would be looking to be similarly active in a potential Lorcana community. Just wanted to mention this so people would have some confidence in how I intend to run the community.

Has anyone bought the new editions made by Renegade of Robo Rally or any of the other rereleases?

I'm curious how the component quality and overall build quality is. I have the WizKids that is the previous version of the rules, so I don't really need it. That said, I'm curious about the new rules and the fact Renegade has already produced two expansions makes me even more curious.

Clank! was one of my first real games that I played heavily, and now we have all expansions, we did the whole legacy campaign for Acquisitions Incorporated, and I got the asymmetric player expansion. Skipped Clank in Space but went for Catacombs and we really enjoy the exploring, but I don’t feel like there’s as much loot to scoop. One of my favorite things about OG Clank is how many tokens there are to slurp up and it’s fun having a big hoard of loot near the end. I do think I like Catacombs more because of the variable dungeon you create while playing but I’m not sure if it fully unseats the original. Any other Clank players out there who have thoughts on which they like best?

recently, it was announced one-time only deluxified version of Food Chain Magnate (FCM) would be held on Gamefound (campaign not launched yet) featuring a different art style than the infamous Spotter Spellen game known for its retro yet functional graphic design which some felt was so bad refused to play it despite it receiving critical acclaim

  • the deluxe by Lucky Duck Games on Gamefound will run concurrently with sales of the original on Splotter (prices are predicted to cost no less than the original)
  • there are plans to introduce deluxe version of the FCM expansion
  • there will not be an upgrade pack for owners of the original version of FCM
  • English only deluxe, because of distribution rights
  • this isnt the first time a Splotter game received an art refresh, Bus received an English only 20th anniversary in 2019. with another title, Ur: 1830 BC getting a re-release pending a popularity vote

meanwhile unrelatedly, a fan-made laser-cut 3D standee tiles was also released on Game Crafters earlier this month for those wanting to deluxify their copy while retaining the original's unique aesthetic appeal

We are old friends and every year, we spend a weekend in a rented house to play boardgames and drink beer. That's great, but it's always a challenge to pick the next game. Sometimes, the most pushy person simply grabs the privilege.

Simply rotating the game vote does not seem right to me, because there's great variances in game length.
