Hi all,

Is it worth starting with Storj with the latest price cuts?
My homelab has 80+TB of free storage (Raid 5) with 1gbps down and 500 mbps up speeds network speeds.
For the next couple of years I can easily miss 50-60TB of space.

So my question is, is it worth it? Power prices doe not really affect me since my lab is already running. I would see it as a way to lower the energy cost of my homelab.

I would like to host a node on Storj, but I was wondering what the maximum storage size was, or even if there was one

I'm found something somewhere that it stops using the disk after 40TB

but if that is the case, and I have to split it (and use multiple drive letters and nodes) I might run out of drive letters.

It would appear that Storj has lost 54 segments according to the grafana dashboard that visualizes the public stats https://storjstats.info/d/storj/storj-network-statistics?orgId=1&from=now-7d&to=now

Looking back a year ish ago this also seems to have been the case of some lost segments, but it looks to have recovered then. Perhaps by nodes coming back online?

Let's pray that these 54 segments are safe and sound.

The "info" level errors don't seem to be related to the cause of it crashing, or else it wouldn't be an info level error. right?

Anyone else seeing this behavior?

So I am a complete beginner to storj, and I have looked out some hardware that i could invest into for hosting a node. It doesn't cost much (200$) and it only has 4tb of HDD storage, but I do want to buy even more HDDs in the future if all goes well. I calculated it and it would be very profitable at current rates, but i don't really know what will happen next Thank you for you time and response

So I tried to use rclone today and got the error,

...didn't find backend called "storj"

I had just today updated to Fedora 39, so I assumed that was it, but..

I logged in to the web dashboard at ap1.storj.io and something seemed broken. My project and top level bucket showed up, but nothing inside that bucket even though the GUI showed thousands of items in it and hundreds of GBs in use.

Any thoughts from anybody? Did I break the Internet? Or just my Storj project? Or is this something on their end?

Hi 2 months back my storj node started going offline very frequently. After support's help I tried increasing Writable timeout interval to few more seconds and the problem was solved. But after that, my used storage gets upto a certain point(8.4TB) and then erases and go back to same point (8.19 TB). It goes offline and when it does it. After restarting node, i encounter this problem .Even the trash storage value is same. This way i wont be able to completely utilize my Hard Drive. This has happened 3 times already .Any suggestion or help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi all

It seems that it works but I can't access the GUI. "iP-address-of-node:14002"

All I get is: ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

In the logs it looks like all is fine. What can I do?

I seem to run into this issue several times a year where all ethernet devices stop communicating on the router (though WiFi connected devices work fine) and only after physically disconnecting the Pi4 that runs my storagenode does it restore communication (replugging it will kill ethernet again within a few minutes).

I swapped out my router a couple of months back but it doesn't seem to have helped. Normal operation only resumes after a hard reset of the Pi4 (which I always feel super sketchy having to do). I run inside a docker container on a Pi4 and first started having this issue about 2 years back (been online since 2019). It really does feel like a self DDOS. Anyone else experience this or know what the issue might be?

Hi, I am a node runner for storj, i have been a node runner for a year, i was wondering if it was possible to host a cloud only for me using storj, I mean like using 100% of my hdd to create a Google drive like experience but on my pc. How can I do this? Can I?

Got stuck here while setting up a node on TrueNAS scale. Tried my ip address but that didn’t work. Thanks in advance!

I've got 4 x 16TB and 2 x 5TB USB HDDs currently running a Chia farm on a RPi v4 4GB. I'm thinking of using them for a Storj node instead, but I understand it could take 1-2 years to fill even one 16TB drive, so in the meantime I want to keep the other drives running the Chia farm.

I want to shuck the 4 x 16TB drives into an enclosure (Mediasonic HF2-SU3S3) to make things tidier, but I'll only be able to connect that to a single RPi via USB (or I could use a SFF Lenovo M700 PC instead of the RPi), so that will only work if Chia and Storj can run together on the same machine, with 1 drive assigned to Storj and the other three assigned to Chia (I assume the enclosure is just like a USB hub, so the machine still sees all the drives as separate).

If that won't work and I'll need two machines, I'll need to get a s/h tower PC case with 4+ 3.5" bays for the drives, and then get some SATA to USB adapters to connect them to the respective machines.

So I need to know whether I can just use one machine before I decide whether to buy an enclosure or a PC case.

Just announced on the forum. Storj has cut egress payments as of Dec 1. Those with nodes shoukd go check the forum out. I am expecting a mass exodus now.
