I would like to host a node on Storj, but I was wondering what the maximum storage size was, or even if there was one

I'm found something somewhere that it stops using the disk after 40TB

but if that is the case, and I have to split it (and use multiple drive letters and nodes) I might run out of drive letters.

I'm new to Storj, but I have not read of any limitations like this. It can take between 1-3 months for your node to be vetted and start receiving customer data.

In the mean time, check out the network stats: https://storjstats.info/d/storj/storj-network-statistics?orgId=1

Not sure where you get this 1-3 months crap. My nodes receive data instantly

A new node gets unvetted traffic but it can still be customer data.

They sped up vetting so it will mostly be done inside a month now except low traffic sats.

I’d really like to read about that. Do you have a link?

Searching for you at the moment. IF I recall correctly it was a post by John within the last 12 months.

Also, unvetted nodes get traffic calculated differently which means it is possible for an unvetted node to get more traffic than a vetted node. For example, I have a new node less than 3 weeks old. It has already nearly 600gb of disk space used and may even break 1tb in the first month. That traffic is far more than my vetted nodes currently get.

Also notice in this thread the reference from BS that the vetting has been sped up - though no details.

Storj docs say somewhere that 8 TB is the recommended size for a node. The bandwidth required to run a full 40 TB node would be immense. Once you reach 8 TB you can keep going or start a second node like storj recommends. Its my opinion you will run out of bandwidth first

It would take years to fill up 40TB.
