I've been calling it the Witcher rule. I knew going in that Netflix was going to ruin it somehow, and boy howdy did they spectacularly. If a show can spit out 3 seasons and still sound good to watch, boom I'm in, and I'll start following the hype. They burn me after that, eh I got some fun out of it.

All the big corpos are in that bucket now. Halo? Didn't watch, sounds like I dodged a bullet. New fallout looks interesting, I'll wait to see how it's received. Picard? Barely scraped by the rule, and overall it's a good show, lots of peaks and valleys though. Strange New Worlds sounds like it's going to pass the rule with flying colors.

Haha, yes, similar for me. I'll dive in for a show that interests me with the expectation that it could be cancelled. So given I liked good wife and good fight, I'm watching Elsbeth. The writing is a bit rocky though. I wouldn't be surprised if it's cancelled but I'm still there.

Strange new worlds, I dove in. Picard and discovery, I watched 2 episodes and it didn't grab me so hold off until more seasons. Seems discovery didn't improve but Picard did. I'm not sure if I'll push through.

I have noticed that lots of stuff is being cancelled and lowest common denominator for shows has crept in again. The golden age is well and truly over. What's particularly frustrating is in the absence of ratings weeks, that so many shows end seasons on cliffhangers when theyay be cancelled. They need to start writing for the reality that they may be cancelled. It is fine to have loose threads in the expectation you're renewed but there should be a completion to the story.

Halo gets a lot of hate because it deviates from the source material. It's also a lot better than it has any reason to be, because it deviates from the source material.
