What modern players would you put on this hypothetical 2001 76ers roster? Most of the guys on that roster were defensive specialists who didn’t have much scoring ability. My take on this team would be:

PG: Marcus Smart

SG: Allen Iverson

SF: Matisse Thybulle

PF: Jarred Vanderbilt

C: Rudy Gobert

6th man: TJ McConnell

Imo this team is a defensive juggernaut and AI would still be the only reliable offensive option and I could see this team making a deep playoff run in todays NBA, the cap is probably an ECF.

A team with mostly good defenders but little offense does nothing in todays league

I don’t even know how to make that kind of team.

I guess maybe if Cam Thomas were to take a huge leap. The Nets? All those defenders like

Mikal,

Cam Johnson,

DFS,

healthy Ben Simmons,

Royce O’Neal.

Nic Claxton,

Lonnie Walker JR

PG Mike Conley

SG Ja Morant

SF Bruce Brown

PF Wendell Carter Jr

C Nic Claxton, later acquiring Rudy Gobert

6th Man KCP

The Rose Bulls, Westbrook Thunder, and sorta the Ja Grizzlies could all be considered modern iterations of the Iverson 76ers' roster construction (i.e. avg/small yet hyperathletic guard carrying the offense on an otherwise defensively-oriented squad), altho Ja at least has ample offensive support in JJJ and Bane. This type of roster typically makes for some fun, streets-will-remember-type hero ball and not much else.
