Post guidelines

Title formatPost title should mirror the news source title. If you don't like the title of article, look for an alternative source instead of editorializing it.
URL formatPost URL should be the original link to the article (even if paywalled) and archived copies left in the body. It allows avoiding duplicate posts when cross-posting.
[Opinion] prefixOpinion (op-ed) articles must use [Opinion] prefix before the title. Opinion articles refer to articles that their publisher doesn't explictly endorse.
Country prefixCountry prefix can be added to the title with a separator (|, :, etc.) if the news is from a local publisher who doesn't clearly mention the country.

75,000 lines of code. At about 13 tokens a line, a whole production codebase fits in one window: every file and every test, read together.

How cute. If you are dealing with production codebases that are only 75K lines including the tests you are a very lucky person.

This is a really strange thing to brag about

Who told you I am bragging? I literally have nightmares about this.

This is dumb. It's like looking at a bag of rice or a fist full of sand and saying there's a million grains in it. You don't get context from the centre of a swirling mass.

I don't know what they are trying to say. The lag on that thing is nuts. I think I'm just supposed to scroll down and experience something, but it's like it's hopping around at random.

As per usual, complaining about poor performance without stating your hardware and browser isn't very useful.

It runs completely fine on my (admittedly far above average) PC and my significantly less powerful six year old Android tablet (Galaxy Tab S7+), both with Firefox.

Do you have hardware acceleration enabled in your browser?

I don't, and everything that can be locked down, is. It's intrusive and over designed for no real purpose.

You really have no business complaing about a multimedia website if you don't have hardware acceleration turned on. Should have at the very least mentioned it.

Wut? Is the web only for people with hardware acceleration turned on?

[–] DdCno1@beehaw.org 2 points 1 hour ago

As I said this is a multimedia website. Those are definitely not meant for the 0.01 percent who deliberately turn hardware acceleration off.

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 4 points 20 hours ago

The whole page is an ad.

I remember seeing something similar with Bezos' wealth, back when it was "only" ~200 billion.

Same. I don't know if that one is online anymore. This is what I found instead!
