So out of like the top 50 all time players, who had a rookie season most comparable to a Peyton Manning or a Troy Aikman, where they really struggled and their future almost looked questionable

Steve Nash’s rookie year:

  • 65 games (10.5 mpg)

  • 3.3 ppg

  • 1 rpg

  • 2.1 apg

Playing behind JKidd and Kevin Johnson. Both a brutal and good situation for him. Brutal in the sense that his minutes were severely limited. Good in the sense that he had two very talented mentors.

It’s impressive he even manages to get on the court given his situation.

Kidd and KJ both went on the record to say that Nash killed it in practice everytime. It was not an ideal situation because the Suns had playoff aspirations the time.

I think Sam Cassell was on that team as well.

Nash was so freaking fast with the ball when he’d get a chance to play, but a little sloppy. I remember wishing that he would get more minutes because he seemed like he had a lot of potential, and he was really fun to watch. Flash-forward and he’s better than both of the guys he backed up. Crazy.

I know Nash has 2 MVP’s but honestly I would take JKidd in his prime over Nash if I were to choose my starting PG between the two

Disagree… Nash was a much better scorer and a better passer. Kidd was a much better defender but at the point guard spot I’d rather have the 50/40/90 shooter than the better defender

That’s honestly significantly better than Scoot when you account for pace, minutes, TS%, and turnovers. Not sure what was blinding everyone (including me) about the value of that pick

That guy clearly has no future. I've seen enough
