Welcome to the News community!
Rules:
1. Be civil
Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.
2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.
Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.
3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.
Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.
5. Only recent news is allowed.
Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.
6. All posts must be news articles.
No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

To be fair they aren't really that wrong with their "it's not the guns" meme. Lots of Swiss have guns. They don't have the US problems with gun violence. It really isn't the guns. US citizen are just generally way worse at controlling their anger than other people.
The US has a violence problem. We also have lots of guns.
I love guns. I enjoy shooting them, building them, and collecting them. I've got over 50 firearms ranging from a 50-dollar unbranded used 22 to a "I don't really want to think about how much I've spent on this" custom Bergara precision rifle. And of course I have a ton of optics and a few silencers. I also recognize that most of that collection was too easy for me to get, and that if I were unstable or violent I could cause a lot of harm.
I also concede that the pro-2A crowd has a point that registration of firearms is a line they don't want to cross because it's a necessary first step towards mass confiscation.
And with the current political climate, I'm glad the government doesn't know about my guns. If they could look up how many guns I own and that I'm a leftist, how quickly would they label me as an armed enemy of the state?
The guns are a very hard nut to crack, and the political reality is it's almost impossible to restrict them. There's millions of pro-gun single-issue voters and almost no pro-gun-control single-issue voters.
So the more realistic approach is to violence, not gun violence. We do that by making society more equitable, providing social services, free healthcare (including mental health), and worker protections. Keep peope from being driven by desperation into crime and provide mental healthcare to those who need it, and we'll significantly reduce gun violence without doing a thing about guns themselves.
The US has an emotional wellbeing and emotional maturity problem.
We all agree that crazy people should not have guns. In Switzerland there are established ways to take away the guns of crazy people. We don't have that. We have 2a which says shall not be abridged meaning that children get nukes. Fuck 2a.
While the 'cause of the problem may not be guns, I don't think it's a good idea to give guns to mentally unstable people.
So that leaves us with either just outright banning guns, because americans have proved they aren't mentally stable enough to handle guns, or requiring monthly checkups with a psychologist to make sure they should still be allowed access to guns. At the expense of the gun owner of course. Wouldn't want free mental healthcare for the masses now, that would be unamerican.
