[–] JonsJava@lemmy.world 7 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I know you're a troll. I'm done feeding you.

[–] JonsJava@lemmy.world 6 points 3 months ago

Are..Are you new to the internet?

I gave you the exact quote. You DO realize that me posting a link wouldn't be any different, right?

That's because you can SEARCH the quote to get the source. I know, revolutionary idea.

Did you not see the source I cited?

Here, let me help:

As Jason Stanley said to define fascism at its core

Who is Jason Stanley?

Jason Stanley (born 1969) is the Bissell-Heyd Chair in American Studies in the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy at the University of Toronto, and also has an appointment in the Department of Philosophy. In addition to his position at the Munk School, he is a Distinguished Professor at the Kyiv School of Economics. Before coming to the University of Toronto in 2025, he held positions as a Professor of Philosophy at Yale University (2013-2025), Rutgers University (2004-2013), The University of Michigan (2000-4), and Cornell University (1995-2000). He accepted the appointment at the University of Toronto in 2025, fleeing the U.S. because of what he describes as the deteriorating political situation.

I'm guessing his bona fides are better than yours.

He actually posted this after I told him I wouldn't be unbanning him.

I responded because we now have it here, plain as day, what Trump actually is.

Yeah, I know they are rage baiting.

sigh

The Nazis were not the first fascists. Italy was. There's been many since. Being fascists doesn't mean being a Nazi. Being a Nazi DOES mean you are a fascist. Not all hot tubs are Jacuzzi, but all Jacuzzis are hot tubs.

It's been said (paraphrasing) "Trying to define a fascist is like trying to nail jelly to a wall". This is because there are many distinct forms of fascism, but they do share some similarities.

As Jason Stanley said to define fascism at its core:

A cult of the leader who promises national restoration in the face of humiliation brought on by supposed communists, Marxists and minorities and immigrants who are supposedly posing a threat to the character and the history of a nation ... The leader proposes that only he can solve it and all of his political opponents are enemies or traitors.

Sound familiar?

Let's break down that definition:

  1. A cult of the leader - MAGA, anybody?
  2. ...who promises national restoration... - Literally what the letters in MAGA represent: "Make America Great Again"
  3. ...in the face of humiliation brought on by supposed communists, Marxists and minorities and immigrants who are supposedly posing a threat to the character and the history of a nation ... - His attack on China. His attack on the idea of anti fascism. His attack on immigrants and RAMP UP on ICE and use of the military in democrat-led states
  4. The leader proposes that only he can solve it and all of his political opponents are enemies or traitors. - This is literally his talking points every day.

I challenge you to prove otherwise.

This is why you were banned from politicalmemes.

Because there's not one definitive definition, and proving without a doubt someone shares ideals is almost impossible, you want to point at a vague idea and say "see, there's no way he's fascist!"

Now, it's time for me to be an adult and do my actual job. This is just volunteer work.

OP, please provide an example.

Most all dating sites ask for gender, and they include trans. Either you're hitting some niche as fuck sites, or you have posted false information as an agenda.

If you do not provide examples, you will be banned for being transphobic.

Wrong instance. There's no such rule on this instance

You may notice a comment/post of yours being removed for "suspicious activity" by AutoMod. If you see it's still gone, ping me.

Apparently it went crazy and started doing that to a lot of people.

With the exit of Admiral Patrick, this community is in need of at least one more moderator.

If interested, make a comment, and tell us why you want to be a mod.

Not going to do a painful process. If you have a overall good vibe, you're prolly in.

A woman named Laura McCaskill used an Apple AirTag to track down her stolen Harris/Walz campaign sign, which led her to a home in Nixa, Missouri. When confronted, the young man's mother admitted that the signs in the trunk of the car belonged to her son, who she described as "just an idiot."

The incident involved the theft of around 60 signs from various homes in the neighborhood. McCaskill and other residents plan to file police reports, and McCaskill expressed concern about the entitlement and lack of accountability shown by the young man and his mother. The document also discusses the legal implications of stealing campaign signs, referencing Missouri Statute 115.637 which classifies such actions as a misdemeanor offense.

The news mod team has asked to no longer be a part of the project until we have a composite tool that polls multiple sources for a more balanced view.

It will take a few hours, but FOR NOW there won't be a bot giving reviews of the source.

The goal was simple: make it easier to show biased sources. This was to give you and the mods a better view of what we were looking at.

The mod team is in agreement: one source of truth isn't enough. We are working on a tool to give a composite score, from multiple sources, all open source.
