I've been trying to set up a landline replacement for my parents. I tried Ooma recently, unfortunately the call volume was loud and distorted. So I got a Grandstream HT802 and signed up for Callcentric.

The call quality is great but apparently you have to dial 1 before every call. I think this is going to be a problem for my parents.

Callcentric has some info about 10 digit calling on certain devices here and I can't really understand it, seems like certain devices can do it but I can't find any of them for sale anywhere, so I'm guessing this isn't really going to be possible.

Does voip.ms make you dial 1 before every call? Ooma didn't. I never would have guessed it would be necessary for Callcentric, and I wouldn't have bothered with them if I knew. It's not hard for me to dial an extra 1 but my parents can't remember to do it.

You can likely change the dial string to prepend a 1 before sending the invite to the carrier. For example on a Cisco SPA device you can use <:1>xxxxxxxxxx to prepend a 1 to a 10-digit number. It looks like the GS equivalent is <=1>xxxxxxxxxx
