A place to politely discuss the tools, technique and culture of photography.

This is not a good place to simply share cool photos/videos or promote your own work and projects, but rather a place to discuss photography as an art and post things that would be of interest to other photographers.

Practice. Look at other photos and see what they did and try to copy it. You can look at books and they’ll tell you about lighting ratios and the basics (Light: Science and Magic is a good one) but reading only gives you a starting point, you need to practice. Best way to make better photographs tomorrow is by making a lot of bad ones today.

youtube videos, trial and error, web sites.. Get some strobes or even some lamps and use one of your kids if you have them, or a roommate, partner, etc and move lights and take photos.
