Tomorrow, I am going to Hong Kong and plan to spend a lot of time taking pictures on the streets. For me it's as big of an attraction as the tourist sites. I may shop for some vintage glass while I'm there as well.

I'll bring a fujifilm X-S10 with a 16-80mm for most things, and a Helios 44-2 for fun.

I have been watching YouTube videos and noting locations, but I am wondering if any of you have some tips or locations that are magical.

My camera is Canon EOS M50 The lens is CANON EF-M 55-200MM F/4.5-6.3 IS STM

It makes a whining sound when I try to focus/auto focus. It tries to focus but it does not work. How should I go on about fixing it?

Hello, as the titles says i will go on a little 5 day trip in slovakia and my lens for traveling just broke. I have a canon EF 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6 L IS USM that is stuck on the wide apertures . At 28, stuck at f/3.5 and at 300 stuck at f/5.6 . If i try to change those i will get error 01. The IS is working , the autofocus is working. My question is , in your personal experience, how hard is to go on use this lens for landscape at open apertures? I do not have time and budget to fix the lens now so i will probably go along with it.

Any tips to do better in this conditions? Any help is welcomed. Thank you all !

I have tens of thousands of photos in my Dropbox and the prospect of organizing them into Lightroom makes me nauseous. Does anyone know of a service that may take my photos and do this for me?

I saw old chat about banding lines, i wonder if these days are there any options to remove lines, i forgot while shooting that silent shutter does that, and now i have a bunch of images with yellow lines over. Is there any precise way to remove it in PS?

Je suis novice en photographie, mon boîtier me permet de prendre des photos avec une grande plage dynamique, lorsque je visualise les photos sur mon mac les photos sont biens dans leur format d’origine mais dès que je veux l’exporter en format jpeg ou png la plage dynamique se réduit (logique j’imagine) et le blanc devient gris, le noir moins noir logique … existe il un moyen propre de convertir exporter de l’hdr dans un format plus conventionnel mais en trichant sur la plage dynamique pour garder les blancs blancs, noirs noirs ?

I shoot in full manual mode and adjust everything myself. I always intentionally keep my ISO as low as possible at 100 or 200 as anything higher than 400 on my camera makes them totally grainy. I have a canon m50 Mark ii. So it makes beautiful photos, but not when the ISO is so high. I have googled why the ISO keeps randomly jumping up (I reviewed my photos today and it jumped to 1250 and up to 800 and 600, without me pressing it).

I found an article that this is called exposure compensation with ISO Auto, so it is compensating the exposure by auto bumping the ISO when I am checking the exposure index (the little bar where the exposure should be centred).

I sometimes use the dial to help make sure my exposure is in the middle and I'm not taking photos too bright or dark. How do I use this feature without it accidentally bumping my ISO into the thousands and ruining potentially great photos?

Does anyone disable this Auto ISO compensation or do you just not use the exposure dial to help you adjust brightness? I found the reference Here I thought it was super handy but, not when it bumps my ISO out of the park. Thanks!!

I've entered the semi-pro photography world recently and I got offered to photoshoot for a christmas event. I do make pretty good photos because im already shooting with my camera for a while. My question is how should I price myself for those events, in this instance I have a christmas party that will be 2 hours long on a non holiday. I'm debating about 400€ but I have no guide on anything. Can anybody give me some advice? (I'm in Croatia)

Im working on a photography project, and for that i will need to wash something off my paper. it doesnt necessarily need to be exposed first, but definitely undeveloped. i plan on putting blackout tape (PLEASE GIVE ME SUGGESTIONS FOR THIS IF YOU HAVE ANY) on film paper, and need to remove the tape for the exposure process using enlargers. anyt advice helps so much. thank you!

My mom had this book probably released in the 90s with sort of ethereal, cottage core, Victorian inspired scenes of children and kittens in gardens, carrying baskets of flowers and wearing big hats and that sort of thing. Can’t find anything online but a name would help!

Good books for editing photos.

Hello. First of all, excuse my English, it is not my native language.

I am interested in a book that can explain to me some editing tricks, a book to teach me how to edit professional-looking pictures that I would be proud to display.

I don't want a book that tells me about gear, the art of photography just the editing part. I have found some good resources online, on YouTube, and e-books, but a physical book would help me more to learn some basic techniques.

I take photos as a hobby and my favorite software is Lightroom. Do you have any recommendations?

Being a beginner, I look up to Dan Winters and I to figure out how his photos are done. Yesterday he posted two photos of Zack Snyder on Instagram. I think he used natural light and not much editing. My question is: what lens and what iso/aperture/shutter speed would you use if you tried to recreate these photos?

Since we are all putting only the best shots into portfolio, have anyone ever had a client whose expectations were not met? I am amateur myself and if I put only a handful of selected photos, it would not tell my real level as a photographer, because some of those shots are just lucky snaps on right moment and I 100% could not deliver same kind of quality, every time. How do you deal with this, or do you deal with it at all?

Hey all, I am going out to Scotland for New Years, and I am excited to take my camera to and take pictures. I currently am primarily a street photographer, and I live in the 35mm range, so I am pretty covered with the shooting in Edinburgh and Glasgow, but I will also be heading out into the Highlands and into the Isle of Sky and how almost no experience with out door/landscape, so I was just wondering what focal length ranges I should be looking at?

Hi there, budding wildlife photographer here. I’ve been into animals all my life and love photographing them and have recently really been trying to up my game. I came across this picture and it literally took my breath away for so many reasons and I was curious to see if anyone could explain how this shot was made to look as amazing as it does. Obviously it wasn’t done in a studio so how did the photographer get that style of sharpness, shadows, etc? Was it all done in editing, if so, where, how? Or is it just technique within the camera itself (specific settings)? A picture is definitely worth a thousand words and now I have some clear goals in my journey lol. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated!

I would say I’m an amateur/intermediate photographer, and I’ve been using Google Drive as a means to share photos with clients after I’m done editing. I’ve had no issues sharing photos this way, however, I’ve seen more professional photographers use a better method such as Pass Gallery (used to share my cousin’s wedding photography). Looking at that, I realized that it felt more professional to share photos this way. Are there other programs I can use to share photos more professionally?

What is the good aspect ratio for portrait and landscape if you want to look it cinematic?

I have recently opened up a printing store on my website because a few of my friends have been dying to get their hands on them. Am I able to sell photos of public areas? I know that I can't if there is a minor involved or people that are distinguishable are in the photos but what if it is of a public university? I had a few alumni that would be interested in some photos of the campus we all went to university. There is no people involved in the pictures but there is one place that has the universities logo in it. Just curious. Or should I just reach out to the university itself?

So I’ve made almost 20,000 dollars this year taking portraits and shooting events.

I’m happy with the outcome for the year considering I have a 9-5 and am only shooting on the weekends but I want to keep the momentum up going into the new year.

Is it unrealistic to think that I can continue to generate revenue and business from local strangers just looking for family portraits? What are some suggestions to upscale my business? How do I go from 20k to 40k and on?

Would love some insight.

Hello! I was participating in a music festival recently. They asked me and wanted to use my photos, so I gladly took and shared them saying please credit me for the photos and if I could share these on media. They alwasys sent me emails within one day after I email them to the updates of editing the photos, and in the reply to my email with shared drive link, they mentioned they could access the photos, and wished for my successes and happiness along with very nice and warm words, but nothing about crediting me for the photos. I felt unsure, so sent another email saying, please do credit me for the photos as I mentioned in the previous email, and I haven't received a reply... I do know they are working on rebranding their website, and are thinking of using my photos, but I would not like them to do so if they are not crediting me for my work :( And if they do use my photos without crediting me, what kind of actions can I take? Currently, their website hasn't renovated yet, and the drive folder I shared is still open as I assume they already downloaded them. Any advice would be appreciated, please!

I was in a touristy (or at least tourist friendly) part of irrelevant a few weeks ago and a stranger started photographing me as I was eating street food. After a few shots I winked at him to let him know it was fine but it got me thinking:

What is the etiquette for photographing strangers on public? Is it acceptable to photograph random people without permission? Is it okay if you’re photographing enough people in one picture? Does being a professional change the ethics? Does it depend on where you are? Would love to know ow your thoughts.
