As we all learned, it's legal for you to die.

[–] pineapplelover@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 19 hours ago

Wtf is this article. Sounds like to me x is illegal but ICE did x anyways

[–] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world -1 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

You have these rights on paper. In fact you have no rights. It's obey or die.

You voted for this, America. But hey. Kamala wasn't a True Socialist, amirite?

[–] agent_nycto@lemmy.world 7 points 8 hours ago

Yeah, blame the lefties for not stopping the righties instead of, you know, the righties.

I mean seriously you think that the people who didn't vote for Kamala were such a large portion of the population they outnumber maga? That's wildly optimistic.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 4 points 18 hours ago

you have a legal rights to defend yourself with a firearm, which the gop and even tried is trying to discourage from.

[–] xyguy@startrek.website 60 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Remember kids, murder is against the law. So, if ICE tries to murder you like they did those 2 other people just say, "thats illegal".

They will have no choice but to stop murdering you.

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 13 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

ICE has murdered about 50 people so far this year.

They don't just execute white people in the streets. Don't forget that they also operate concentration camps that have been murdering brown people for years

[–] BanMe@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

Also tell them a judge has decided they cannot destroy evidence of your murder, so they need to carefully document it, or else not at all so there's nothing to save.

[–] brainwashed@feddit.org 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Hey man, I’ve got like… rights and stuff!

[–] hector@lemmy.today 62 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

You de facto do not have a right to have your rights honored though. If an agent wants to put a slug in your head, they will demonize you, maybe persecute your friends and anyone sticking up for you.

The state needs to file open murder charges for both executions. There is nothing to investigate that is a cowardly cop out

[–] Drbreen@sh.itjust.works 151 points 1 day ago (4 children)

You think these fucks care about your rights?

I don't think the ICE officer will care about your rights, much less about rights that they don't even know...

[–] Sterile_Technique@lemmy.world 83 points 1 day ago (1 children)

YSK legal rights don't mean shit to administrations that don't respect the law. Compliance with ICE can be deadly - arm yourself and do whatever you need to do to stay safe.

[–] PenguinMage@lemmy.world 27 points 1 day ago

Sadly 100% this. These jokers have proved they can just murder folk and nothing happens. Be safe be armed be ready.

[–] But_my_mom_says_im_cool@lemmy.world 111 points 1 day ago (27 children)

None. They said your rights can be waved away at the discretion of any federal agent. Which means your rights don’t exist

[–] kboos1@lemmy.world 25 points 1 day ago

But you can feel some sort of satisfaction as you count them off just before they execute you.

Does that matter, given ICE doesn't give a fuck about the law?

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 27 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Those rights would count in a country still under the rule of law. Which the US is no longer.

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 2 points 1 day ago

Since when has ICE followed laws, or US presidents not been war criminals?

[–] in_my_honest_opinion@piefed.social 48 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

Shit is going down in Minnesota but they've never been more organized than they are now.

Studded tires and going slower than the posted speed limit, which normally is the expected speed and you shouldn't go more than 10% slower than it. Those are two rights that come to mind when dealing with ice.

Oh wait ICE means something else in the US. Yeah, good luck guys.

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

What asshole says you shouldn't go >10% slower than the speed limit.

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 0 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

You can if it's slippery or when there's a corner. Not on a straight dry road with good visibility. That's just pointlessly dangerous

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 1 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago) (1 children)

There are very few roads with minimum speed limits. If you're driving the exact same as the speed limit, you're the one that's endangering everyone on the road.

You should always expect a bicycle around every turn that's going 5 mph.

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 1 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

If someone's going >10% over the speed limit, that means other people have to pass them, which is a dangerous maneuver. If they're going the speed limit, only selfish people will pass them.

Police are literally allowed stop you for going 50-60 on a 90 km/h road here in the middle of the summer. It's suspicious and a completely valid reason to check if you're drunk.

around every turn that’s going 5 mph.

But

You can if it’s slippery or when there’s a corner. Not on a straight dry road with good visibility.

I literally said that corners (tight ones anyway) and poor visibility (which corners can cause) in general are valid excuses, in addition to the aforementioned ice. "I was scared of doing 90" is not. I think you're lacking a little bit of reading comprehension. Must be the famously excellent American school system.

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 1 points 7 hours ago

You do not have to pass someone who is driving safely. You could, you know, also drive safely

[–] Chozo@fedia.io 33 points 1 day ago (1 children)

More realistic headline: "Here's a list of things your family can sue the government for after you're dead, once their GoFundMe goals are met".

The only rights you have with ICE are made of lead.

This is all good information. DHS doesn’t care about constitutional protections. They enter homes with administrative warrants. They can detain anyone, anytime, anywhere.

Title should be changed to "ysk what legal rights will be violated in encounters with ice"
