So after reading a bunch on this sub I got the blon earbuds. I’m satisfied withe the sound but they will not stay in my ears at all. I’ve tried all the silicone attachments and they fall out. When I’m at work I have to readjust them every 10 sec which annoying to say the least. I’m sick of spending money on earbuds that don’t stay, is there anything I can do about this? Tia

Ok so, I did a test. I'm confused. I need your input to figure out what's happening. I mix and match 3 DAC/AMPs with 2 IEMs. The question I have is that, if DAC/AMPs are supposed to be transparent, aka outputting a flat FR, what else can affect the tonal balance in the chain?

Gear list:
HIFIMAN EF600(Low Gain NOS), Cayin RU6 NOS, FiiO BTR7
Truthear Hexa, Moondrop Aria 2

I tried my best keeping all the volume same, vocals especially. The EF600 has A LOT more bass than the other two, but also having a much clearer instrument separation and clarity, by a great margin. BTR7 has somewhat good bass while RU6 has the least. RU6 has the least clarity as well.

I know this may sound obvious, "Duh, DAC/AMPs are different." But I'm wondering the root cause of this, like is it because they output different non-flat FR? Or is it the output impedance that's affecting the sound? I specifically used two IEMs with different setups, single DD and 1DD+3BA, the results are exactly the same so IDK if it is impedance. I'm curious what's behind this. I know RU6 has very bad THD so a lack of clarity can be explained. BTR7 has better THD on paper than EF600 but the actual perceived clarity is audibly lacking. It could be IMD or something else but the drastic difference of tonal balance is beyond my understandings.

Hi! Just wondering what's the general consensus on Marble vs. Updated design versions of Sennheiser HD 600?

I'm asking this because I noticed that a lot of people prefer Marble one over the new revision.

Is there any audible difference in the sound? Did anyone measure both headphones with the new set of pads on the same measurement rig?

I have a problem with my headphone. It is made from plastic parts that fidget and rub on each other, making crackling noise. The parts would grind on each other with the slightest movement of my head. All the headphones that I bought have this problem. All are plastic.

So does anyone with a metal headphone have this problem? I would like to know what type of build materials avoids this problem

I know the go to for this sort of thing is typically earbuds, but are there any out there.

The person I'm buying them for as a gift typically goes through a pair every 6 months as they use them in the bath and eventually the steam seems to wear them down and they stop working.

So wondering if any were more resistant to this kind of use. And they have active noise cancelling too that would be a bonus.

Lastly I bought AKG K702 and also i have Audio Technica M50X BT. I've read a lot of reviews about akg saying they are headphones with little bass (what I want), pristine sound full of space. Based on these reviews, I'm afraid there's something wrong with my akg, as they have more bass than the previously mentioned AT (especially more low bass), they have a lot of space of course, the mids and highs are less than at, they are a little muddy. Every hit on the drums has a big impact (more than an AT). The impression is similar to that of a movie trailer, where the sound is spatially bassy. This is a recent purchase, so it is possible that they still need to warm up (in AT warming up had a big effect), but I am afraid I got a defective unit. It is possible that this impression is somehow caused by the space, but I fear that something is wrong with the driver or the cable connection. Maybe someone knows something about this phenomenon, has some experience. Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

So, Apple just posted this listing of their list of Mac Products that ship with High Impedence Headphone output including their lowest end M2 Mac Mini.

https://support.apple.com/en-in/HT212856

Anyone who have used these inbuilt dac/amps as well as dedicated high end dac/amps? If you have, what are the sonic differences for a dedicated dac/amp? is it worth it?

Have apple solved the Amplifier requirement for a regular consumer?

Anyone using them? Any reviews for them

Before I plug a brand new cable into an IEM or DAC/AMP, I always wipe down the contacts with rubbing alcohol to make sure they are clean. As I was going about this ritual with my new Kato, I noticed that the metal shroud on the 3.5mm termination felt slick with oil. At least a couple inches of the cable above it were also oily. I put the cable back in its bag and decided to use a Kinera Ace instead, because who the hell wants to use a cable covered in oil.

Although I've seen some reviews of TRN cables and cheap Aliexpress cables reporting oily residue, this is my first time experiencing the issue firsthand. I would have expected more from an IEM with a $190 MSRP.

I haven't seen anybody else mention this regarding the Kato, so did I just get unlucky?

I recently purchased the Sony Linkbuds S and am very disappointed with their sound. The low end is good but the high end sounds almost muffled. Lacking the sound quality i’d expect from an earbud ago this price. I’ve also been having awful connectivity issues where one bud or the other keeps cutting out.

Does anybody know how the Sony C700 compare to the Linkbuds S? If i’m unsatisfied with these will I be unsatisfied with those? Should I bite the bullet and go for the Sony WF XM5? Or does anybody know of any solid earbuds with great sound for $200 USD or less?

I'm a video editor and wanted to take my audio setup to another level, so I got my ATH-M50x (excellent sound, lousy comfort). I tried some Bose Quietcomfort 45s, looking for a balance between good sound and comfort (didn't work). I had headaches with both headphones because of the pressure of the headband, and although I tried to stretch it in both cases, I didn't manage to finish a full work day using either one. I usually wear headphones for more than 12 hours a day, so I just had to go back to my old Sony Mdr-zx110, they didn't have the best sound, but at least I didn't end up with sore ears and a sore head.

Which headphones would you have chosen? I would like to hear opinions from knowledgeable people on the subject, since I am a novice in everything related to sound.

i purchased the sony wf xm4 and because i'm not an audiophile, i don't know much. i like the headphones, but the noise cancelling hurts my ears. i'm really sensitive to things like this so i accept it. i've just been using the headphones without the anc and i don't think i'd ever use the spatial audio mode. i either use them bluetooth or wired. i mostly will use them for studying or just sitting and listening to music, i don't think i'll walk around with them on (preference).

because the anc hurts my ears, is it pointless for me to have them? i never had ear/headphones before besides the wired earphones that come with the iphone. i feel terribly guilty for spending so much money on headphones if i'm not using one of it's greatest functions. again, i'm not an audiophile so i can't tell the difference between these headphones and my apple earbuds that come with my iphone.

i'm also afraid that in the summer (gets hot where i am) that i won't use them and will regret not getting earbuds because they'll be too hot to use.

i even am considering different headphones, but i'm afraid of anc hurting my ears. at one point i wanted airpods but i've heard they are bad for your ears (in comparsion to headphones) because they sit in your ear and i wouldn't want to wear earbuds for long time when i'm studying, but they would be nice if i'm walking around.

i have until january 1st to return the sony's because of my best buy's black friday deal.

With all the hyperbolic reviews of gear, I find it hard sometimes to quantify how important various components of a hifi setup are to achieving the best sound possible.

What do you spend the bulk of your budget on, and what can you get away with skimping on until you've got extra cash lying around, to get those diminishing returns on the last few % of upgrade for your rig?

The sound is good with music but in discord my friends sound like they are in a can or a bit far away if that make sense. and in games the sound is a bit weird to, is there anything i can do or are they only meant for music ???

And another thing is when i try to activate 5.1 or 7.1 if the headset even support it . my mic dont work ? but it works with stereo ?

As the titles states, is the Dragonfly Cobalt enough for the Sennheiser 800 S?

I'm afraid that maybe a seperate AMP and even a different DAC would be recommended?

Please enlighten me, thanks!

Do you guys think a headphone that cost £200+ over 10 years ago is still better than a cheap headphone brand new today?

I feel like the rate of quality increase isn't anywhere near as fast as something like smartphones & the old headphones would still be better? Anyone have any input on this?
