The past couple of days I've been using these great beats headphones my mom got me, not sure how long I wear them for, maybe 2 hours max but I could be underestimating. I try to limit myself but I love that sweet sweet music. Anyway today and yesterday I noticed after I take the headphones off the inside of my ear is kinda wet, I assume from sweat? And also a little itchy, but that might be because I stuck my finger into my ear to feel the previously mentioned wetness. The moisture and itching clears up after a while of letting my ears breathe. Got a bit worried about swimmers ear because I know that wearing headphones for a long time can increase your risk of getting it.

Hi All,

I am fairly new to the whole audiophile scenario and have quite untrained ears. I have so many questions but can not possibly ask them all together lol. So for now, I need an explanation for something that I can't get to understand. So, functionally if specific drivers work on the same mechanical principle ( Dynamic drivers, Planar Drivers etc) then what makes the same kind of driver on 2 different products sound different? For eg., how are some dynamic drivers on a headphone flat, others balanced, some V, some warm, some bright etc, considering the principle is the same?

Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Been enjoying my space travels for a while now and I like them a fair bit (the anime girl noises never fail to amuse me).

Although I do have one gripe, which is that the tips don't seem to fit all that well. Using one size larger of the included ones did help although they don't feel too great personally.

So I've been wondering if anyone has been using aftermarket tips with these and having any luck with them, especially since they have oval shaped nozzles and a charging case. Please do share if so!

I know it can create a bit of latency but you can get so damn close to Harman. Why not use this as a tool? There's a parametric eq option but it doesn't get as exact...

I’m curious about headphone audiophile users take on flat response vs Hi-Fi sound, so I’m hoping to get a discussion going.

I’ve been an audio professional all my life, so obviously I am a big proponent of a flat response.

I have after many years had to accept that it’s merely because I’m “tuned” for a flat response sounding good, and as such that’s what sound good to me, even to a point when I tune PA’s. I’ve learned this because that’s my reference when mixing records on various systems.

Audio is a learned subjective experience (in my humble opinion), and as such why do we not aim for headphones that have accurate replication of the intended record sound, with a realistic stereo image?

I’m curious to hear your opinions.

These are my first set of higher value headphones. I mainly listen to european folk music with instruments such as clarinet and sax, and hip hop.

The higher pitched sounds, even at low volume, feel very sharp and tiring.

I am listening on Windows 10 and have a Fioo e10k.

I was previously using the Koss Porta Pro which I enjoyed.

I would like to know if anyone else has had a similar experience or has any recommendations.

Research and investigations conducted by Audio Community demonstrates that Apple's implementation of AAC on iPhones are actually so good that 256 Kbps AAC files seem as transparent, detailed and noise free as 990 Kbps audio transmission offered by Sony's LDAC on Android phones. You guys can actually see it for yourself that THD+N and TD+N both are incomparable to AAC implementation on Android phones and how do they stack up against LDAC.

Basically what the title of the post says, I just bought them and they sound amazing but after using them for a while the top of my head starts to hurt and I do t have a particularly big head.

Idk if it's because of the clamping force or something else (it's not the volume, I don't listen to things using a high volume) but I would like to know if there's anything I can do to fix that, because I really don't have the money to buy another pair.

I used to think that Airpods sounded amazing. Granted, they were my first "higher-end" pair of earphones. Then I discovered this subreddit and found a bunch of new things. I decided to try out the Philips SHP9600 seeing as it wasn't too expensive (bought it for 60 on sale!) and holy wow. The smaller details that I didn't even imagine! It kinda makes me realize why some people don't like pop songs as much as certain songs sound so empty compared to others. But then I am getting curious, is it worth it upgrade more and more? I was looking into the X2HR, and HD6XX. I don't mind spending money on things I enjoy, especially music. But damn, some of the expensive ones go for so much, and getting more and more gear doesn't seem like a sustainable idea for me. Is there like a sweetspot where I can be at? Where after a point its only limited gains.

I need one for my kids when doing homework. I’m really looking for one where I can patch in and talk with him without him taking off the headphones. Almost like the old nascar headphones. But more sleek and less bulky?

Found that the Sennhesier HD560S 2023 Revision changed something with the adapter or jack and it's not clear what. As u/RB181 states:

"The difference is that the original had a 3m long cable terminating in 6.3mm and a 3.5mm adapter, while the revision has a 1.5m long cable terminating in 3.5mm with a screw-on 6.3mm adapter, along with different fabric on the headband pad."

"All HD 560S revisions use the same 2.5mm twist-lock connector."

Does this mean that the 2023 revision doesn't use the proprietary 2.5mm hole in the headset and uses 3.5mm instead? Or is it going to be the 2.5mm hole in the headset except the way to plug it into the PC has changed?

The question comes down to will the Voda Boom Pro Mic (3.5mm) work with the 2023 revision or will the ABLET Boom Mic (2.5mm) work with the 2023 revision? If either one works with the Sennhesier 2023 Revision then which one and would it be pluggable right into the PC with the boom mic cable?

Letting you guys who live in the area know. The headphone section is pretty much the same as CanJam (minus very few IEMs). With a fun addition to hear high end floor standing speakers.

lots of info available about eadh of these Grado models. but amazingly little comparison. saw somewhere that hemp might be a revised 325. or a revised RS2X. or a totally new model. have read this post from a year ago:

looking for current insights on hemp vs RS2X. thanks for any info or opinions

I've seen alot of complaints about the lack of bass and recessed mids but I feel like they have TOO MUCH bass, and the mids are only slightly recessed compared to my Hexas, which are quite mids forward. Also while the treble is a bit toned down, it is still fairly detailed, almost as much as the Hexas. And while the cable is pretty shit the iems themselves are insanely comfortable. Am I missing something here or were the bad reviews a bit exaggerated?

I tried posting this in r/audiophiles originally but the bot deleted it.

Alright, to try and explain what I am chasing: Around a year ago I went to the piano room at my local community college (my stepdad was the choir director at the time) and played an electric piano. The headphones were AKG K240's and when I played the piano it sounded like I had the piano noise coming from outside the headphones, it was surreal. I took the headphones off and played without them, nope, the sound was from the headphones. I put them back on again and sure enough it was the same feeling.

I've been trying to chase this feeling in my music since then, I bought a pair of beyerdynamics dt990 pro 250 ohms and a soundcard for my PC. Ive spent hours upon hours looking online and the closest thing I could find was the bineural audio thing but it didn't have the same effect.

I think it might be something with soundstage but I'm not sure. No songs seem to have the effect and I have given up self research.

Any help in the right direction is appreciated, even if I have to program an EQ setting onto my soundcard.

Considering buying the XENNS Mangird Top, but recently saw a couple of posts (here for example) saying that their unit had a rattle. Just want to make sure this issue is not too widespread.

One month ago or so I got my start in audiophile music with the HD 58X and a FiiO BTR5.

Then a HD 660S(1) with a FiiO Q11

Now I am awaiting the arrival of a pair of Beyer DT1990 Pros and an iFi xDSD Gryphon.

Whoops. 😬😂😂😂

Rabbit hole indeed.

You guys are bad influences (but good 😊)

Hello there !

So yea My wife gifted me the HD 800S for Christmas (yes we exchanged gifts early, we dont care)... I know im extremely lucky to have her, prior to the 800s I humbly owned the HD 58X Jubilee with a Shiit Fulla 3 which was a nice little combo for competitive gaming and casual music listening on my desktop. I am by no means an audiophile, so I really dont much knowledge on amps and dacs and whatnot. Upon opening the 800s I notice none of the 2 cables worked with my fulla 3 so I went to Guitar center and got myself an adapter from 1/4 to 3.5mm which works fine and I can clearly hear the immense difference from my old 58X, so that alone made a huge difference..

now my question is am I missing out alot more by not using a more powerful / higher quality / more featured AMP ? Like will I be just as impressed like I did when I first Listened to the HD800s + Fulla 3 or will there be diminishing returns ?

If so what would be an entry level amp for the HD800s, Yea I know a 1600$ Headphone should be treated to an equally expensive amp+dac combo, but im not looking for that.

Thanks in advance !

Exactly what the title says. No this is not a troll post. There was some hardstuck water in my Holas which sunlight couldn't remove.

While I knew that my Holas have a N52 magnet inside them and that this could go horribly wrong because of the Faraday's cage, I thought just 2-3 seconds of microwaving wouldn't do anything. Also had this exact thought running in my mind "bad things don't happen to me" right before putting them inside. I was in semi-denial.

The driver tore off in a somewhat audible boom and now the right one doesn't work. The cable is fine because I didn't put it in the microwave, but the washing machine destroyed the mic last month and now it responds in flat noise.

Luckily they were worth only $20 but I'm still a student so it was somewhat major of a loss. In need of advice if recovery is possible.

TL;DR: Don't microwave your IEMs.

Share songs that are a true BLISS to hear on the Sennheiser HD 800 S.

Something that takes full advantage of the headphone's unique qualities.

Thanks!
