Just got the Little Dot mk2 and hd600 and completed such a great dual set up! HD660s and HD600 with Topping DX7s DAC and Little Dot MK2. I feel like I've always been in the small majority that has thought the 660s was the superior headphone in the HD6-- line up, but now I understand. The 660s will stay my go to for gaming and everything else, but the 600 with that amp is amazing.

The HD660s and the topping DX7s is just a monsterous detail machine. Everything is so clean and precise. Amazing for gaming with how pin point the imaging is. It's scary because it's also good for monitoring microphones and that's a whole 'nother rabbithole im scared to throw money at.

The HD600 and MK2 is just wow. This combo is an experience that's just makes listening to music such a fun pastime. The pairing feels like 3D glasses for music that's just so special. I feel like there's more separation between all the sounds and they all have rounded edges giving it a 3D effect. Not sure if im explaining it right but it's so good.

I ordered recently the headphones and I ponder what streaming services will be sufficient to utterly drain Momentum's soundscape potential. Currently I use Spotify, but I think about moving over to Tidal for Hifi or Hifi Plus, but I have no idea if even these headphones can take advantage of Plus for wireless listening. If in theory there should be slight difference, I would call it a good deal. I am eager to hear about other platforms, I only care about music.

Hey, I recently bought the Edifier W820NB Plus headphones, and they're great. However, there's one major problem: the software. The Edifier app is filled with bloatware and possibly spyware too, as it requires location permissions to work. Is there any app that allows you to control Edifier headphones features like noise cancellation? An open-source app would be perfect, but I'll take any alternative as long as it's better than the default Edifier app.

This being my first post I’ll open by saying I find reading this forum very interesting, partly for the information about headphones at a level/purchase price above my pay grade (but also other topics). The most expensive pair I’ve owned are the Beyer Dynamic Amiron DT 990 Pro, which I am very happy with as they sound much better than anything I've owned previously.

That long winded intro bring me to my question about an annoyance that has dogged me with every pair of headphones I’ve ever owned: Does anyone have a tip or tricks for reducing the sound of rubbing/squeaking caused by head movement when wearing glasses?

Even quite small movements cause some friction between the ear cup cushions and the glasses resulting in annoying sound. This isn’t so bad when listening to music that is loud and full, like much rock or some classical, but I listen to a lot of quiet music, minimal contemporary classical and (true) ambient electronic music (e.g. Eno) and the resulting sound is jarring.

I got my new Meze 109 Pro headphones a week ago, I come from utilizing the Sennheiser 58x (RIP lower bass frequency response) and the Hifiman XS.

So far really enjoying the comfort, they feel extremely nice and well built compared to the Hifiman which seems like they came out of a McDonald's Happy Meal. Soundwise, I think I might have liked the Hifiman relaxed sound a little more, the Meze is "on your" face sound, especially with the bass and treble frequencies. The Hifiman does have better imaging and soundstage, but I prefer the mid-presentation of the 109 along with its punchy bass.

The only issues I have with these headphones so far are 1. The cable it came with was complete garbage, if you get these, I'd recommend getting a Hart cable, if you own the XS or another device that utilizes dual 3.5mm, they will fit the Meze 109 Pro. The other problem is the sharpness of the treble and high frequencies, however with a nice EQ similar to what Oratory1990 has I was able to fix the issue and I've been enjoying it quite a lot.

I would say my 58x had a very good neutral sound, but poor bass and sub-bass which the XS and the Meze 109 completely win over, I'd say is more fun to listen to music on these cans.

I utilize the Schiit Vali 2++ with a 5670W Tube, it opens the sound more and makes it cleaner compared to the stock tube.

I'll provide my EQ settings if you are interested, it completely takes off that annoying sharp sound imo and makes it more relaxed. These cans take Eqing pretty well. If you own the Hifiman XS and won the QC lottery, I am jealous, because they are pretty good headphones although very uncomfortable and heavy (I had to return them twice because of driver problems, sorry Hifiman but not buying from you again if I want long-lasting headphones). When I had them I had to get a headband to make them last longer than 40 minutes on my head without feeling like it would cause a dent on my skull. I will attach an Amazon link to it as well alongside the stuff I own.

Thank you for reading this and I'd like to hear your opinion about these headphones, alongside other recommendations below the 1000 dollar range, I will settle with these for now but in the future will definitely look to test and try other pairs.

I read a lot of review raving about Px8. I wasn’t about to pay $800 for them, but I got a pair at $450. Still wondering if they’re worth that even. Sound to me seems cloudy, and over bassy. I’d previously bought Focal Bathys after raving reviews and found them to be flat and thin and not coming anywhere near loud enough. Maybe my ears are too spoiled/ruined by the last 2 years of listening to mostly mid-tier IEM’s and my disappointment in these two cans is just because of bluetooth vs wired. Anyone else disappointed in Bathys or Px8?

Apologies for the bad photo, these were with my Toshiba walkman and there is greenish flaky stuff on the jack

When I have my HD560S on listening to artists songs via reels on Instagram they sound amazing so I look them up on Spotify and they are just ok. I use the same headphones for both.

So first of all: hear me out.

I’m not a professional listener, I do not believe that a more expensive amp will sound better than a cheap one and I won’t buy a 1000€ DAC because it gives me better sound quality.

Yet I bought a A70 pro to power a pair of tungstens in the future.

So now I have it so I use it. I connect it to my element III with the RCA pre amp output and plug my Zeus elite into them.

So now: Am I insane or do those headphones suddenly sound more lean?

Like the elites are far from neutral, they have quite some warmth and body to them yet on the A70 they sound kinda thin. Like did I do something wrong or am I missing something?

Sorry in advance for the long rant:

The is TLDR is : I rage sold my DT 1990s because my new HD600s are more detailed despite every reviewer out there( except for the headphones show guys) gushing all over them and the supposedly supreme detail.

I just sold the DT 1990 I had for three years. At the time I was looking for the most detailed cans for less than 500€ and I bought them mostly on Joshua Valour's advice ("detail everywhere, extremely well balanced") but also Zeos's and many others who gushed about the detail retrieval and didn't seem to have a problem with the FR.

Only tho discover that the frequency balance was super wonky and every song not metal or electronic sounded wrong. But hey at least they're the most detailed cans I can get for my money -I thought- and they were indeed the most detailed of my collection.

So I kept them, changed the pads and added foam to boost a little the lows and tame those wild highs. One year ago I started to use EQ and was happy with them.

But then I bought a pair of used HD600s because they're such a classic and a neat addition to my collection and they were a little bit more detailed in the highs and instrument separation was also better, I was so surprised and felt ripped off, so I rage sold them!

The worst thing is: I'm all for bright and uniue FRs (I love my K701s and SR325x ) but the DT 1990 truly are so unbalanced that they're unusable without mods or EQ or hearing damage! And the detail is average for the price despite supposedly being their main attribute. I miss a little bit that sweet bASS tho luckily my iems got me covered in that regard.

So where does all the hype come from?

Ps: I really tried to love them because of the great build and the looks but come on Beyer, get yourselves a dummy head coupler already, for our ears's sake! (I've heard the new ones are better in that regard)

Hello,

I've managed to get a pair of Moondrop Arias, barely used, for 25€.

I'm currently listening to them and I'm a bit split on what to think of them.

They sound sort of inofensive but a bit "low-res", compared to what I was used to listening on a regular basis (Sony WF-1000XM4's). The treble isn't as detailed (even if they seem a tad brighter) and separation is quite a bit worse (on complex music, the instruments are much less distinguishable).

I must say that the bass is quite impressively deep and controlled.

I'm listening to them on a Fiio BTR5.

Anyway, I want to step to something a bit better, even if not much more expensive. At least on the same level of the wireless 1000XM4's.

I also have two Hifimans: RE-400s and RE-600s. Both are more refined than the Arias, but they lack some weight in the lower registers for me.

Can I use this steel wire in my headphone building attempt? I'm almost certain it doesn't contain any copper. Would the sound quality be affected? I intend to use this only for drivers to connector link in the internal parts. My detachable external cable will be a generic copper cable that I have on hand. So what if it's 5-10 cm of steel?

Hi guys, these are my very old JBL LIVE660NC headphones. Well recently they started to fall apart and I just wanted to ask if there’s a way to replace the pads?

I don't think an amp could be able to change the frequency response of headphones, but some people say it can, but why could it? How can an amp change the sound? Only talking about solid state because I don't know much about tube amps. An amp increases the amplitude of the signal, this would evenly increase the signal throughout the frequency range, I don't think there is a way to boost the low frequency signal more than everything else. It's all analog so there is no DSP, it receives an analog signal and outputs an analog signal. If there is something inside it that can change the sound from an analog signal, then a cable could also change the sound using the same technique.

I know some multi driver IEM can use an impedance adapter to change sound by changing the ratio of how much power one driver gets over the other, making it relatively louder than the other. But this won't work for headphones.

Sadly gonna return and get a pair of Apple max pros, I tried calling Focal about their warranty but no one ever picks up, I’m guessing holidays makes things terrible slow. I then tried to submit a warranty request to Focal via their website and it’s like their submit technical case button is broken. Wow! Glad I bought from Amazon.

Review in the comments! Vs Sony 1000XM5 and other Focal headphones. I have mixed feelings.

I just ordered myself a fresh set of DT770 pros 32-ohm and was a bit annoyed that they come with pleather pads and not velour pads. I got the 32ohm version as i wasn’t sure if the 80ohm one would work the best as i don’t have an amp or anything and it’s just going to be plugged straight into the motherboard ; I’m using it for gaming and music purposes. Is there any way for me swapping the pleather pads for the velour pads sold online?

EDIT: and does anyone know where i can find velour pads on amazon that would fit the DT770 Pro?

Was really surprised when a co-worker tried to put them in the trashbin just because the pads are used. I just won a new pair of perfectly usable headphones I guess. I already own a pair of the exact same model but hey, free is free.

Hi guys,

Recently my DT770 Pro’s right driver died on me for unknown reasons, so I ordered a replacement one from beyer. 😅 Once I opened them up I noticed some colorations on the working driver and was curious if there was a way to safely clean it or if I should at all. Any opinions?
