Sadly gonna return and get a pair of Apple max pros, I tried calling Focal about their warranty but no one ever picks up, I’m guessing holidays makes things terrible slow. I then tried to submit a warranty request to Focal via their website and it’s like their submit technical case button is broken. Wow! Glad I bought from Amazon.

To conclude:

OP is special and lacks common sense, Focal could have done better better job marking R and L earcups

(But still, violently rotating earcups in the wrong direction and ignoring resistance + disregarding the fact that they are angled and different buttons on R and L earcups makes OP far from smart

Focal service is not bad, I didn't have anything broken yet, they respond to e-mails, inquires wnd suggestions in a timely manner

To all the people that say that Focal has awful build quality — Nuh-uh.

Yes, they are not built like dt1990, they creak, and do not exactly inspire confidence.

Would it be better if they didn't creak and were more robust? Yes.

But assuming you didn't get a QC issue/faulty unit and you are not the caveman that uses headphones to split rocks, provided that you used headphones in a normal manner and have been taking care of them they should be fine

You really do live up to your tag

Focal QC, repair service, parts supply is bad. There's no other way to describe it really.

I got my focal bathys through Crutchfield. Absolutely amazing customer service! Their chat system/agent is so helpful!! Mine work great but yea I know what you mean… when I first got mine I had a hard time finding the L and R label. I had to look really hard/closely just associate the right cup to be the one with all the buttons. I also don’t try to force the swivel.. if I swivel in One direction and it doesn’t budge I just go the other direction

Just exchange for new pair. I don’t understand the issue.

Sucks you had some trouble. I’ve had my Bathys for over a year and I love them. Since buying an iPhone 15 Pro Max I almost exclusively use the USB DAC mode. Having true lossless bit perfect playback via Roon Arc is nice. The ANC is decent and the features they’ve added via firmware over the past year have been great.

I’d return them and then buy them again from headphones.com and have the assurance of the 365 day return policy.

Oof...that hurts to look at. It was painful when I had to do that to my Audeze Penrose headphones. Being extra careful with the Maxwell's and the Bathys.

Big Yikes but also always contact your retailer first regarding anything you purchased.

Damn, I was really thinking of picking up some Bathys too...

To clarify: OP put them on the wrong way, then broke them when he tried to rotate one earcup out of the way for a phone call. (this got lost due to being a -100 score)

[–] doglover1005@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Well that sucks

[–] LifeAspect@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

You aren't supposed to swivel them the wrong side. There is a reason why there is a "stop" when you swivel them to a certain degree...

[–] miniprokris@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Love how OP literally forced the cup to rotate in a way that it wasn't meant to and pretends it's a manufacturer fault.

ZMF is the best for customer service hands down and the build is amazing

My focal spirit pros broke in a similar way, I see their design has not improved at all in the years.

:(

Guess I’ll just stick with my AirPod max. Close enough for me in sound, but built like a tank. I also have them tuned to Harman curve, created an “eargram” on my iPhone lol.

Go to r/3dprinting for help ))

You know what, I'm going to entirely reset my view on focal to the current wave of feedback and say they're like early days hifiman only double the price but break just as easy. My early days elears and utopia's have had no issues but clearly that's not a standard they aspire to anymore

[–] xxspaceghostxx@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

damn you really manhandled them
