I've been thinking about 3D-modelling and printing cups that go over the existing cups and clip onto them, in order to be able to close off open-back headphones. My questions would be...

(1) Has anyone tried this? I've searched for it on reddit but mostly found replacements for the existing cups, not really any easily detachable solutions.

(2) Could I expect similar sound to the closed-back version, or how far-reaching are the differences between open/closed-back siblings? I'm thinking 990=>770 or 1990=>1770

(3) I suppose I should add some dampening material on the inside to reduce reflections back from the added cups into the headphones, but what material and how much of it?

I've recently been thinking about getting a pair of 1770s in addition to the 1990s for their fun frequency response with more bass and a little less treble compared to the 1990s, and then started wondering how much of that I can achieve if I just seal off the 1990s with removable cups. Let's hear your thoughts!

Hi I currently have a headphone amp which accepts optical, usb, rca and coax.

I'm looking to buy a mixer that will accept 4 inputs and output to 1 (headphones), between the computer and one of those 4 inputs I want a thingy (idk what they're called) that can eq, compress and add reverb and be adjusted.

The idea is to have my channels separated for music (what i want to add reverb/eq/comp to), discord, desktop audio plus one spare

Would anyone know where I'd be able to buy a small sheet of the foam which is put inside the headphones between your ears and the drivers? Have a pair of Anandas which I am finding slightly too sharp, so looking for some of that foam material to try tame the treble a small bit.
Example of what I'm talking about https://global.beyerdynamic.com/foam-disc-new.html

I have been daily driving my hifiman 5XX with the schit stack , and I recently decided to revisit my old HD 600 and found them to be neutral/analyitical to point that I found them quite boring to listen to. Would it be even worth it for me to get a pair of HD 6XX if I already dislike the tonal qualities of the HD 600s?

Amazon seems to have a black version of the Moondrop Space Travel. I cant see it anywhere else, or the moon drop site.

I assume it's legit, as it would be an odd thing to fake.

Can someone shed some light on the difference between a pure "line out" and relatively low-powered headphone amp.

For example (to cite a use-case): I still love my trusty Fiio A3 which (to my ears) sounds great as a small, standalone portable headphone amp. Let's say I want to listen through my iPhone and I plug the standard Apple DAC - 3.5mm dongle into my phone (which by most accounts is an excellent DAC/AMP), but the Apple dongle isn't powerful enough to power the headphones I'm using, so I output the Apple dongle to the A3 (and then plug headphones into A3).

The Apple dongle is (to my understanding) a DAC/AMP (that can power many IEMs really nicely). So am I double amping here? Am I going to damage the amp by running a non-Line out single into it? And will the sound quality be degraded (compared to a device that can output a "line out" to the amp)?

How do I clean my leather pads on my 8 year old ATH-M20X, the stains have come after I left them unused for about 3.5 years?

I tried water (damp cloth) and some nail polish remover as well?

Is this because the leather has dried? Would applying oil lightly help? Would wearing them as it is harm my ear in any way. They sound really good to me and I want to use them as monitors for my guitar so any suggestions or recommendations or experience is greatly appreciated!

Specific headset is the ath-m50xbt and I'm using that along with the Hyper X Virtual surround sound so just wanted to know if that's the best in terms of how realistic it makes it sound or if there are better options to pair with the drivers in the m50xbt headset

(Spelling mistake in the title lol *an Audio Technica Headset)

I just got my new s12 pros and the earhooks seem significantly smaller than any unboxing video I’ve seen (except the official one, 5 months ago) these earhooks have a sharp turn immediately after the 2 pin connector, making it very uncomfortable to wear. Is this is an official change or should I return it?

Hi guys.. Here am new to IEMs.. I got my Truthear hola a week before. After 6 days of usage I got a (Otomycosis) fungal ear infection and also noticed pain from beginning of the usage. Am on Tropical area here we can't live without Celing Fans and AC's.So the nature of iems to block airflow inside Canal right...That may be the cause?

Does anyone have faced this issue? Is there any breathable Ear tips? Yes I need to compromise in Low sub bass. But I don't want to damage my ears.

I have the Sennheiser HD600, Neumann NDH-30, Audeze LCD-X.

I use these with my SSL2 hp out, and with Qudelix 5K.

I spoke to someone about my impressions and his first question was: which dac/amp? and when I told, he just winked.

So my question is: is the difference this obvious with a more expensive dac/amp combo? Should I spend another 6-800 euro to get one? Do your headphones open up/perform that much better?

Hi everyone, It may be a stupid question. I’m currently using my Sonys for 2 years. I’m all okay with the sound quality and noise cancelling but the battery is not good enough. I use it with most of the settings (like Sound quality mode etc.) are on. After 1-hour listening sessions, the batteries die and I can’t listen to anything. So should I buy the Apple AirPods Pro 2 or stay with the Sonys?

I probably have the cheapest headphones you can find, so I don't have any expectations.

My main 2 problems are that at 30% battery I get a quadruple Battery Low alert into an automatic shutdown. There seems to be no way to turn off the LED lights which seems to be quite a big battery drain.

These are my headphones: https://gembird.com/item.aspx?id=12310

Anyone here has SuperTFZ No. 3 Pro? I cannot find any english reviews online. I'm trying to buy the TFZ No. 3 Pro which is supposed to be the endgame for bassheads but I cant find any shop that is selling now.

Video editor here. Need to use headphones all day, mostly rely on ATH-M50x. When my day goes beyond 10 hours, I need to switch to in-ear headphones to give my ears a break.

The FD3s work really well—but the cable is bothering me. It’s really stiff, makes it it’s a bit of a hassle to take the buds off and put them back in, the cable is too short and constantly rubbing on my arms or hands when working.

Any ideas for alternatives in a similar price range that offer both comfort and enjoyability. They don't have to be super neutral since I mainly use the ATH-M50x for mixing.

Okay so I bought it after reading reviews and responses from people saying that it has good bass and all that and are super great. But the product wasn't as good as everyone had hyped up it as. I'm not saying that it's a bad product but it wasn't up to my taste or expectations. I am used to normal wired headphones and the normal tws oppo enco buds. I like the bass they provide, I'm not into too much or too little, I just liked the perfect amount that I can feel in my ears and doesn't overwhelm the rest of the audio and makes it muffled. The oppo enco are a bit light when it comes to base but not bad, but the lack of bass is clearly visible when listening to phonk and other bass heavy sounds. Now kz zsn pro x have a really flat sound and have a constant hiss that is really annoying, but a lot of reviews mentioned good bass but I don't feel it at medium or low volumes and these kz's get really loud at high volumes so that's a no go for me.

So please tell me what am I doing wrong so I can fix it or simply return them.

Disclaimer: I am not an audiophile and had limited budget so I only bought these and no replacement cables and other possible attachments.

I usually listen to music on my desktop PC, but today I decided to bring my Truthear Shio and M60x to the office as most of my colleagues were on a work trip. After hooking everything up to my laptop and pressing play, I very quickly noticed the treble was harsher than what I was used to.

Upon getting home, I did some (non-blind) testing and the difference in treble was certainly there.

  • Music source: Tidal (FLAC)
  • DAC: Truthear Shio
  • Headphones: M60x, DT990

This outcome doesn't make sense to me; surely the data coming out of the USB-C ports of my desktop PC and my work laptop should be the same. Has anyone encountered something similar?

I’ve read some conflicting reports on wether or not this dac/amp can sufficiently power my 300ohm HP’s mentioned above.

Hello friends, my first reddit lol.

So I just got Bose QC45 the other day mostly because its comforts for wearing, the ear pad is deeper than others like Sony XM5, unfortunately my Bose45 was a little tight I guess and made both of my ears really hurts after on and off use for like 8 hrs.

Does anyone has same issue? Not sure if I should return it. Thank u👏👏

So I’ve been trying IEMs for gaming and things like gunfire or reloading on any game are just ear piercing. I’ve tried adjust my EQ program (steelseries). But it still seems very sharp and uncomfortable. Any tips?

I’ve tried ZS10 Pros and ZSN Pro X I know they are cheap compared to others but I’ve seen good reviews and no complaints of my type that I can find

After years of playing around with this hobby and buying a variety of headphones, (starting with higher end Bluetooth headphones of all types, then going to the Sundara, Fiio FD9 IEM, Monarch MKIII IEM, Focal Clear MG and sampling many others) I feel like I’ve finally discovered what this hobby is all about thanks to my latest addition: the Focal Stellia. This isn’t just a pair of headphones; it’s a spacecraft that transcends the earthly bounds, taking you on a sonic journey through the cosmos.

Listening to anything from EDM to classic rock to classical to pop, the Stellias wrapped me in a soundscape that was unlike anything I had experienced before. It was as if I had sprouted wings, soaring through the intricate melodies, each beat propelling me further into the void of musical expanse. The resolution, instrument separation, and detail are celestial; every strum, and hum is a star, and I was flying amongst them, lost in the cosmic dance of sound.

Technically, the Stellia is excellent. Its precise and fairly expansive for a closed back. The low-end response is articulate, textured and controlled, not a mere thump but a narrative that adds a rich undertone. The midrange is where the Stellia really shines; vocals come through with so much emotion and clarity, it's almost haunting. And the highs sparkle without being too harsh completing a soundscape that is both exhilarating and serene. But like with any pair of headphones, it not just about the numbers; it's about how it translates into an experience that is utterly transformative. It's not merely listening to music; it's a voyage through the sonic universe, where each track is a planet waiting to be explored.

Understanding and exploring the audiophile hobby has been like learning a new language, and the Stellia is my Rosetta Stone. It translated the abstract into the tangible, and now, I'm conversing with the music on a level I never thought possible. The Focal Stellia didn't just open my ears; it opened my soul to a galaxy of sound, and I'm never looking back.

Ok. I'm 50/50 with moondrop, I like em and I don't like em sometimes. But the CHU 2 are absolutely banging iems. Fuck many of those midrange sets now
