And absolutely zero that you said will make housing more affordable. From your point of view it sure the fuck sounds like you're either a developer or an investor in housing. Or possibly a landlord since you're screaming so much about rent controls ruining the possibility of more affordable housing.
Right, and you know this how? Because you 'feel' it? Do you also feel vaccine causes autism and they are a vast conspiracy being imposed on you?
I can tell you right now because there's absolutely no rent controls in utah. That is not made housing any cheaper here in fact it's gone up astronomically over just the last 5 to 6 years. And I can also tell you that building out additional housing is not helped the fact either. Because all their building is huge houses that really start at 450 to 650,000. I live in an area of town that traditionally was low income and not necessarily great. The area I live in is much nicer and I've lived there for quite a long time. But watching all of the new housing pop up and I literally had probably eight neighborhoods pop up of dozens and dozens of houses and the cheapest one out of those is $475,000. And I can tell you by looking at the housing market around me with all the existing homes and watching them sit because the housing market is so overpriced that even homes that literally 6 years ago for selling for 225 to 275,000 that are now selling for $480 to 650,000 or more. It's not about the number of houses available it's about the market in the glut. And you're right I'm not in the position to purchase the house. I could if I wanted to. I make plenty of money but I really like where I live I don't mind renting my landlord is awesome I've literally lived there for 12 years I get to do anything to the home that I want there's not even a problem there and I pay less than what I pay trying to buy a house that's smaller than where I live. I've looked at owning a home I've looked out purchasing a house I qualify I have the money available I have the income way above the median and Utah but I won't pay for the shitty ass homes that they want so much fucking money for.
right, again, all that matters is you. so fuck everyone as long as you get yours. if you don't directly benefit from new housing development, it's terrible and awful.

weird, then why do they sell so quickly then if nobody wants them?
why is it that in my own city, pretty any place that is old gets knocked down and a new larger home gets built in it's place? or sometimes, a condo building?

They are shitty because they are built with the lowest quality to survive past the "warrenty". Just go talk to some inspectors that sees how "well built" million dollar homes are.

sounds like you should go buy an old home and just enjoy it's quality construction then. win-win for you.
and the more homes that get produced, the lower the cost of the old home will be, because it won't be as desirable to flip it.
