That looks like a high school picture that someone put a hand in front of. Photoshop before there was photoshop. That poor person probably doesn't even know she was in an ad.

The democrats are full of people wanting to do the right thing. They thought that since Harris won as VP, she was an easy out. She obviously wasn't.

Do you guys realize they they're trying to turn us against ourselves so that we don't notice that Trump said to not worry about the election months ago? He wasn't even trying in the last couple of weeks. They have been placing election officials for 4 years. They legally cheated with a fuck ton of propaganda coming from Russia.

Don't fall for the trap or I'm going to put you in with the republicans and democrats that sat this one out. You're being stooges.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 2 points 8 hours ago

To be fair, they legally cheated. I understand your way of thinking though.

I removed it, but I gotta lock this shit too?

(there are a lot of things that he can do that SCOTUS has preemptively granted him immunity for, though…)

Biden is actually in the trolley problem. He can either save many and go to hell (he's Catholic) or he can let the many die. I don't envy him.

I agree with you about the independent and working and all that, but that's for lower offices. It's totally doable, I live in Seattle and it's done all the time. I'm talking higher office. Unless the r's mass quit and all money is taken out, there is a .01% (not scientific) chance that a progressive would make it through the primaries.

Lemmy is the best I've found so far even though the Russians and other trolls are here. The trolls are the only ones using shitty tactics and trying to guide the conversations with what they post. Most people here see it because we're refugees from the bad place. Like the convo we're having would have been downvoted to hell and back while trying to start a fight anywhere else.

You're right, I didn't mean to go after you. I'm just frustrated at how shitty our voting and purposely non-voting country is.

As far as dems go, Biden won with the Harris strategy. That's what they thought would work against trump. Obviously they were wrong. There's a bunch of gerrymandering (cheating) going on as well.

Here is the bottom line and what I don't think people understand though, the people funding these campaigns for higher office don't want progressives. That's it, the end. How do you fix that now? People may vote for them if they're given the opportunity, but they will never get the opportunity. That's just the reality of it.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 days ago (2 children)

That's very true. I would love it to be arguments between progressive and normal democrats vs democrat vs fascist republican, but that's not the world we live in. I'm angry at the voters, there is no way they didn't know what they were voting for this time.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 days ago (8 children)

What would you have these people do differently once they're in? I'm going to go through the issues and it ain't "the dems."

  • Russia did an amazing social media job and played the r's like a fiddle. We probably don't even know the half of it because of the bubble world they live in.
  • The r's have placed SCOTUS judges that are openly corrupt and actively harmful to our country.
  • The r's have placed judges to fuck with many states with gerrymandering and it worked.
  • Half of the voting public of America is sexist and racist.

I've seen an active population going after the dems today and it makes me laugh my ass off. It's pretty good propaganda. The r's voted for a monster and you're blaming the people who thought there were enough decent people on that side to keep him away. Nope, we were wrong.

What action do you think we should do? Real talk. The government has been taken over a long time ago by anti-democracy peeps, how do we get it back?

Progressives have never done the same for the DNC, they’ve just let it continue being the same old shitty party for two decades. Every time they drift further rightward, people complain, and then forget.

I disagree on that part. Everyone is just fucking tired trying to save the country from our fellow dummies. We are just trying to survive and have no idea of what to do.

On Android

With the release of Android 12, Google began allowing users to delete their ad ID permanently. On devices that have this feature enabled, you can open the Settings app and navigate to Security & Privacy > Privacy > Ads. Tap “Delete advertising ID,” then tap it again on the next page to confirm. This will prevent any app on your phone from accessing it in the future.

On IOS

Apple requires apps to ask permission before they can access your IDFA. When you install a new app, it may ask you for permission to track you.

Select “Ask App Not to Track” to deny it IDFA access.

To see which apps you have previously granted access to, go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.

In this menu, you can disable tracking for individual apps that have previously received permission. Only apps that have permission to track you will be able to access your IDFA.

You can set the “Allow apps to Request to Track” switch to the “off” position (the slider is to the left and the background is gray). This will prevent apps from asking to track in the future. If you have granted apps permission to track you in the past, this will prompt you to ask those apps to stop tracking as well. You also have the option to grant or revoke tracking access on a per-app basis.

Apple has its own targeted advertising system, separate from the third-party tracking it enables with IDFA. To disable it, navigate to Settings > Privacy > Apple Advertising and set the “Personalized Ads” switch to the “off” position to disable Apple’s ad targeting.

The advertising for this that I heard, was for companies to use this AI instead of developers because devs are so expensive to hire. It was a podcast audio ad. Their web presence makes it sound like it's for devs to use.

Heads up

“Let me get this straight,” John Mulaney said. “You’re hosting a ‘future of AI’ event in a city that has failed humanity so miserably?”

Everyone inside the auditorium at the Moscone Center groaned. Any notion that the award-winning comedian would play the corporate gig safe (and clean) were thrown out the window Thursday, when Mulaney, closing the Dreamforce festivities, started roasting his host,

Roughly a year ago, astronomers announced that they had observed an object that shouldn't exist. Like a pulsar, it emitted regularly timed bursts of radio emissions. But unlike a pulsar, those bursts were separated by over 20 minutes. If the 22-minute gap between bursts represents the rotation period of the object, then it is rotating too slowly to produce radio emissions by any known mechanism.

Now, some of the same team (along with new collaborators) are back with the discovery of something that, if anything, is acting even more oddly. The new source of radio bursts, ASKAP J193505.1+214841.0, takes nearly an hour between bursts. And it appears to have three different settings, sometimes producing weaker bursts and sometimes skipping them entirely. While the researchers suspect that, like pulsars, this is also powered by a neutron star, it's not even clear that it's the same class of object as their earlier discovery.

Today, I’m talking to Jay Graber, the CEO of Bluesky Social, which is a decentralized competitor to Twitter, er, X. Bluesky actually started inside of what was then known as Twitter — it was a project from then-CEO Jack Dorsey, who spent his days wandering the earth and saying things like Twitter should be a protocol and not a company. Bluesky was supposed to be that protocol, but Jack spun it out of Twitter in 2021, just before Elon Musk bought the company and renamed it X.

Seven years later, Kyle’s argument is that AirSpace has turned into what he now calls Filterworld, a phrase he uses to describe how algorithmic recommendations have become one of the most dominating forces in culture, and as a result, have pushed society to converge on a kind of soulless sameness in its tastes.

Point A: There is a lot of trolling on weekends here on Lemmy, it's pretty blatent. It usually starts on Friday and lasts through Sunday morning.

Point B back history: I posted something in Lemmy.world on fediverse pointing out some weird half deletes or a kind of shadow banning. The admin started trolling me and now I'm banned from there. I could use another alt, but I don't really want to be there anymore anyway, I left Reddit abuse for a reason. But it got me to thinking about what they're doing over there.

My partner was thinking about joining lemmy.world a week after I did, which was at the great escape from reddit time, and my partner said it seems like they're advertising to get more people. Now that I'm banned from there and most of the communities are on there, most people can't see what I comment on. It's a lot of control of what's being seen. We don't know who runs these instances, it could be anyone or any corporation.

Point B, the trolling: Occasionally I post on world by accident or just need to type something out, lol, and I came across this thread.

Comparisons, with no person blocks (hopefully world doesn't change these threads, screenshotted in case):

One is straight up reddit trolling, Russian style. The other has a bit of trolling, but nowhere near.

Conclusion: I know it seems like I'm picking on world, but it could happen to any instance. Also, I'm not seeing the trolling from shitjustworks either, is there a policy that extreme negatives are banned here? World is the one I've noticed it on, there could be more (or not). Just be aware and think about trying other instances occasionally.

Alongside his neighbours, Brunet made the decision to leave his home, and all he knew, to move to higher ground in 2023, in a mammoth multimillion dollar project to relocate the tribe to escape rising sea levels. The tribe had already run once – from white settlers during the colonisation of America – and fled to the island, which was an isolated refuge until 1953, when a road was built that connected it to the mainland.
