Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

remember folks if celebs can't get clean drugs, neither can you.

man I used to do cocaine in my 20s and I'm glad I stopped. probably would be dead by now.

It's totally out of context but I beg to differ, I did get clean fetanyl. However, the reason was an emergency, not that I wanted to have it.

Would totally not recommend for various reasons.

I'm in the middle of a bender and it's so hard.

The biggest predictor of success in overcoming any addiction is number of previous attempts to quit. Even if you don't succeed, you're one step closer. Failure is only ever truly failure if you let it be the last attempt. Otherwise, it's just a setback on the path to success.

It's work, but you can make it. From personal perspective, it's worth giving up everything your mind might be fooling you into believing you'll lose.

If you can't do it alone, I know I couldn't, get help. If you can get into a good rehab center where you can safely detox and get counseling while you plan for sobriety all the better. Many of those have some kind of financial plan if insurance doesn't cover it or just doesn't exist.

You can do it, friend.

Never give up.

[–] gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That’s why you always test your supply before you get high

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I have heard even that isn’t risk free as you can just test a clean patch of your supply and miss testing the portion with the minuscule OD quantity of fent as it’s so potent.

[–] ManOMorphos@lemmy.world 3 points 7 hours ago

The only way to rule out fentanyl hotspots in drugs is to dissolve it all in water, shake the solution very well, then test. It would probably make you very uncool at parties but you would have a lot less chance of dying.

[–] antianarchist@sopuli.xyz 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You used a jet flame to light your cigarette.

They used a lit butane gas tank to light their cigarettes.

Not all drugs are equally dangerous. Fentanyl is one of the craziest ones. Look up how small the lethal dose is.

[–] CultLeader4Hire@lemmy.world 2 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

I ODed on fent while in the ICU having it as a prescription! You can just become sensitive to it and die too

[–] antianarchist@sopuli.xyz 2 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Wait, I didn’t know that you can get sensitive to it. At least they knew what they were doing and could help you with a bit of swearing and good ol’ adrenaline

[–] CultLeader4Hire@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Yes, many things work like that, the more you’re exposed to something the more likely you are to have an adverse reaction. Especially in situations like mine or people who haven’t built up a tolerance it’s a real risk.

[–] stringere@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 hour ago

There's a lot more (ex)nurses with latex allergies than people are probably aware of.

[–] ruuster13@lemmy.zip 4 points 1 day ago (7 children)

People don't use drugs for fun. They use them to treat physical and psychological pain. The solution isn't related to personal responsibility; that goes right out the window when you're desperate for relief. The solution is universal healthcare.

[–] stringere@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 hour ago

I used to do drugs for fun.

I still do. But I used to, too.

[–] humorlessrepost@lemmy.world 35 points 1 day ago

That’s a pretty big over generalization.

I use drugs for fun once every year or two. I know plenty of similar people.

I’ll grant that the vast majority of daily drug users (including alcohol) don’t do it for fun.

[–] architect@thelemmy.club 8 points 21 hours ago

Lol nah. The lsd/mdma was def fun af would do again if safe.

[–] M137@lemmy.today 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That's just plain wrong, many only use them for fun. If the solution to no one using drugs was universal health care then there would be no drug use in the many countries that has universal health care. The fact that you somehow didn't think of this makes it real obvious you have no idea what you're talking about.

[–] JustPlainDave@lemmy.zip 6 points 23 hours ago

Every drug I've ever done was explicitly for fun.

[–] deft@lemmy.wtf 8 points 1 day ago

I definitely do drugs for fun though..

[–] foofiepie@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

Some people, sure. Rather an awful lot of people do just get high, to get high.
