Can't remember if its was 22 short or long but mythbusters did an episode on dieing to using 22 as a stand in for a glass fuse. Completely plauseable

A .22lr fits in some 3AG fuse holders. They do produce an audible alert when they blow. I'm not sure what the current rating is though.

I'm guessing it's well above 3 amps.

3AG is just the physical size of the fuse, they usually go up to 20 amps from memory.
