The apps would be fine if it wasnt for the enshittification and gamification aspect of it. Pay to unlock swipes and boosts and all that nonsense it so dystopian. We need non profits to start running pro social apps that are actually healthy

Do we really need that? Dating apps have a sort of logic behind their existence: expand your dating pool to meet people you never would have otherwise.

Social media doesn’t really have a purpose like that. It sort of started with corrupt motives, and they’ve only become much more harmful.

The initial use case of Facebook was great. It let me keep in touch with old friends. But as soon as they diverged from just showing my friends posts in chronological order, I removed my account.
