They would rather sweep the problem under the rug rather than teaching kids about responsible and safe use of technology etc… it’s far easier and less costly.

Schools are not replacement for parents.

And what if the parents are dumbfucks/absent? Do the kids not learn the basics of life if they have the bad luck of having shit/no parents?

So, are schools expected to teach kids how to wipe their ass because they might have dumbfuck parents? Are you seriously expecting the school to teach every fucking basic things of life because bad parenting is a thing? Giving these kids a few hours of forced break from their phone is actually the best thing a school can do.

School is not social services and it does not replace a family.

Do you have any idea what a teacher's job is? Stupidly, and I mean really stupidly underpaid jobs where you work twice the hours you get paid and have to deal with tons of entitled idiots, kids and adults, who, like you expect school to take care of everything. Schools teaches kids a lot of things, read, write, maths, geo, etc., but it can't replace parents. I use to teach in high school, long ago, never fucking again. You want schools to do more? Start paying teacher like you pay doctor, lawyer, dentist or even construction workers and then we'll talk.

Yes. I know so many people who didn't learn basic hygiene cuz their parents were dumbfucks. I was one of them. I didn't know that u have to clean under ur foreskin. When my penis started to stink one day, I learnt about this. Another example is brushing ur teeth. I'm quite sure that u rinse ur mouth immediately after brushing, rinsing the toothpaste away. Did uk u were not supposed to do that? Fluorine in toothpaste requires time to act on ur enamel. Hence, while u should spit the toothpaste out, u shouldn't rinse ur mouth always.

How many cases of dental cavities have occurred due to people not learning about this? Cases which could've easily been prevented by good education.

Yes. It isn't the kid's fault for having shitty/no parents. It is however society's fault if the kid has to suffer through the effects of shitty/no parents.

So we do agree. Of course teachers are incredibly underpaid. Of course they need to be paid as much as doctors, engineers and so on.

I agree that parents should be teaching their kids to use technology responsibly. With that being said, a shocking number of parents have no idea how to use technology in a safe or responsible manner.

In fact, I’d say that it’s likely that majority of smartphone users are not tech savvy enough to even recognize the risks of use themselves never mind how to be safe online. Banning the use of these devices is just sweeping the problem under the rug and setting up future generations for failure.

I don’t have an answer to the problem but I don’t think just banning them is helpful. They do need to invest more into future generations instead of coming up with excuses to cut funding and promote private education, etc…

Teachers get the shitty end of the stick, but seriously, if they can’t get kids engaged then they need to go back to the drawing board on the strategy. They need to teach them relevant subjects that are going to help them be successful in life and able to function as productive members of society and do it in a manner that is fun, interesting and inspires and promotes curiosity and creativity.
