Sega has officially announced the development of a new Virtua Fighter game.

  • Justin Scarpone, Sega’s global head of transmedia, confirmed during an interview with VGC that a new Virtua Fighter game is in the works.
  • Key Points:
  • The last mainline release, Virtua Fighter 5, was released almost two decades ago in 2006.
  • Since then, only minor appearances of Virtua Fighter characters have been seen, such as in the Yakuza series and Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown.
  • Speculations point towards this game possibly being Virtua Fighter 6.

This news marks a significant milestone for the series, which has been somewhat dormant in recent years. What do you think about this development? How might we see Virtua Fighter evolve in the future?

Was never a massive fan of Virtua Fighter I'd rather see a return of Fighting Vipers! Or even an update on Fighters Megamix which does have some Virtua Fighter characters appearing and is like a solid mix of the two.

Loved fighting vipers, DOA, project justice and rival schools. Such fun fighters

Fuck yeh project justice, I forgot about that. All these games have so much more character and charm than Virtua Fighter which is just dull in comparison.

Project Justice is coming back in the next Capcom Fighting Collection, some time next year. Along with Plasma Blade, CvS Pro and CvS2, etc.
