A place to share practical, durable and quality made products that are made to last, with an emphasis on upcycled and sustainable products!
Guidelines:
Things that are well-made and durable (even if they won't last a lifetime) are A-Okay!
Unlike that other BIFL place, Home-made and DIY items are encouraged here, as long as some form of instruction is included in the body of the post.
Videos links are not allowed as post titles, but you may use them in a text post.
A limited amount of self-promotion is accepted, IF the item you are selling aligns with this criteria:
- The item must be made with sustainable or recycled materials.
- If electronic in some way, the item must be open-source.
- The item must be user-serviceable (if applicable).
- You cannot be a large corporation.
- The post must be clearly marked with a [Self Promotion] tag in your title.

If it is only an occasional quick tool to do something they indeed basically last forever. I think I had mine for 25 years or so now. Mostly switched to a Leatherman though as the pliers in those are often very helpful.
Which Leatherman?
This is absolutely a decision based on aesthetics over functionality, but I just got myself a Signal. (Text references the bureau of sabotage from Frank Herbert's ConSentiency novels)
I'd love a Signal, but it's so god damn expensive where I live. It's literally 1/2 of my monthly rent.
can you post that on https://sopuli.xyz/c/edc ? i don't know how to link to another community on lemmy
op, @chaos_rat, can you too post that sak there?
Hi there! Looks like you linked to a Lemmy community using a URL instead of its name, which doesn't work well for people on different instances. Try fixing it like this: !edc@sopuli.xyz
Cross-posting is actually pretty easy on Lemmy! (Won't work on specific comments, but it's easy to cross-post the whole thread)
