I guess suits aren't always required in the oval office after all.
I’m not joking when I say that to a lot of MAGA this is a suit if you’re famous for country or rock music, and they wouldn’t find it inappropriate for him to show up to a formal event like this just because of that. That’s just how music stars are to them.
I’m not big on respecting formal dress codes so I don’t care either way about whether or not it’s formal. But the fact there’s such widespread disagreement shows there’s no consensus on what constitutes formal wear for a White House visit and no strong culture of expecting all invited guests to adhere to it, which shows what a disgraceful excuse it was to use that to insult Zelenskyy. Who, IIRC, hasn’t been wearing suits since the beginning of the war in part as a statement about his commitment to focusing on the war.
