I already know scientists moving to Europe because they couldn't find places to work in the US. Labs are not hiring here anymore, but the Euro labs seem excited and able to being in new talent
The key part is that the overall European budget for science is microscopic in comparison. Very few scientists will actually be able to move there.
And why can't the EU increase the budget?
Where do you think 5% military spending is going to come from. It's gonna be funded by austerity and cuts to science.
They would rather increase their NATO budgets
Yes they are lucky they found something, the timing of their search was just in time
it's good to be ahead of the curve :)
