I know nothing about watches. Nothing. I have an Apple Watch but am interested in picking up something that I can wear in professional settings. I work in tech sales. Rolex’s are common in my industry but they scream douchebag to me. I want something that is well made and that will last. I don’t know watch brands but I’m hoping for something that is nice, will compliment a tailored suit or a blazer OR a black tshirt. And I want a brand that doesn’t scream that I’m trying too hard. TIA.

Presage may be too dressy for a dressed down / business casual look. A diver is probably the way to go.

Look at Seiko 5 GMT, GMT complication will be a good talking point amongst fellow watch enthusiasts, there's multiple colours to choose from, you can dress up and down and everyone loves a Seiko.

OP mentions a tailored suit or a blazer. I think the Presage line is perfectly fine for that.

They do also mention a black t-shirt. I don't think it would be out of place there, but you're right, in that scenario, I would prefer a field watch or diver over a Presage.

For sure but its his "first" watch. Divers are a little more versatile imo. Speaking from experience, seiko presage cocktail was my first real watch and it only goes on when im dressed up.

Oh, for sure! I totally agree.

But my day-to-day attire is "typical IT guy" uniform of khakis and a polo lmao. I don't really dress up but for occasionally. And my typical daily wear is almost always a diver.
