I was recently wondering if I could save battery life on my quartz watches by pulling the crowns out when not in use, but I'm too worried about moisture getting in.
Moisture isn’t your biggest issue. Most crowns have caskets that stay located in the crown tube. Only diving watches might have a second which engages when the crown is screwed in. A bigger issue is prolonging battery life artificially and then for the non lithium cells, frying your circuit with an acid leak.
