[Question] Should you hack non-automatic watches? (alien.top)

Basically title.

I've read it's best for the mechanism especially of automatic/self winding watches to hack them if you're not wearing them (ie pull the crown out so the watch stops)

Is this recommended for quartz/battery/solar watches? Or just automatics since they die out in a day or two of non-wear?

That’s not a thing. A pulled out crown can let in humidity and cause serious damage if bumped or dropped, as it’s fragile when pulled out.

Pulled out crowns do not let in humidity. The gasket stays seated in the crown tube for even the most basic watches. Divers might have a second that is engaged when the crown is screwed in. But I have no idea where you live that the relative humidity in the air is of great enough concern in the first place. Do you keep your watches in a box of water?
