“The UK government wants technology companies to block explicit images on phones and computers by default to protect children, with adults having to verify their age to create and access such content,” the FT report said. “Ministers want the likes of Apple and Google to incorporate nudity-detection algorithms into their device operating systems to prevent users taking photos or sharing images of genitalia unless they are verified as adults.”

Hardware wise, we're basically there. Especially since there's multiple recently-ist mainstream phones on which you can install Linux.

UI/UX seems to be a nightmare though, plus missing software

I’d be fine with just a shell prompt if there was a usable keyboard to type in commands. Similar to a BlackBerry Classic. I’d just write shell scripts to do all the things I like to do.

I also like the idea behind the Planet Computer devices. But I rarely need to do serious work while out and about nowadays to be willing to lug around such brick.

Yeah, but unfortunately, the keyboard does not look promising.

I'm sure we will get there, eventually. Just an uphill battle... As always.
