Hi all. This watch was owned by my girlfriend's grandfather (now deceased) and we're looking into getting it restored as a gift to her mother. She thinks it is from the 40s or thereabouts but I haven't had much luck finding any info online. Are there any vintage Rolex experts who might be able to provide any info about this model of watch? Thanks!

Are we sure it's real? The case looks very poor, like a cheaply made steel/something case, plated with gold or a gold coloured metal, and peeling off (hence the metal underneath rusting).

Rolled gold/gold filled was very common
