He didn't have space to land because, and only because, he wildly kicks out in a transparent attempt to draw a foul. The picture you're showing is after he kicks out. Look at where Harden takes off from and where the defender's feet are when Harden delivers the two-footed kick. Great shot by Harden, btw.
